Eight individuals received awards for their contributions to developmental
optometry during the Awards Luncheon held at the 53rd Annual Meeting in San Francisco, California. The awards were presented on April 13, 2024. Receiving recognition were Dr. Lynn Hellerstein, Dr. Jeffrey Cooper, Drs. Samantha and Guillermo Del Campo, James Smith, COVT, Dr. Daniella Rutner, Dr. Kenneth Ciuffreda, Dr. Jack Richman, Dr. Sarah Hutchens and Janice Cook.
The 2024 G.N. Getman Award was given to Dr. Lynn Hellerstein, FOVDR in recognition of her excellence in developmental optometry, personal and professional concern for all patients, and her numerous contributions to the optometric profession.
The 2024 A.M. Skeffington Award was given to Dr. Jeffrey Cooper, FOVDR for outstanding contributions to optometric literature in the areas of behavioral vision care, optometric vision therapy, and rehabilitation.
The 2024 President’s Award was presented to Dr. Samantha Del Campo, FOVDR and Dr. Guillermo Del Campo, FOVDR for their dedication to vision development, rehabilitation, and support for and the future of the entire organization.
The 2024 Certified Optometric Vision Therapist of the Year Award was given to James Smith, COVT for his outstanding dedication to behavioral optometry and patient care.
The VDR Article of the Year Award, which was selected from all 2023 journal articles, was Readalyzer as a Novel Approach in the Visual Biofeedback Treatment of Congenital Nystagmus: A Case Study authored Dr. Daniella Rutner MS, MBA, FOVDR and Dr. Kenneth J. Ciuffreda PhD, FOVDR-A
The 2024 Distinguished Service Award was given to Dr. Jack Richman, FOVDR for his lifetime achievements and dedication to the optometry profession and patient care.
The 2024 Rising Member of the Year was given to Dr. Sarah Hutchens, FOVDR for her dedication to the mission of the organization.
The 2024 Making Vision Therapy Visible Award was given to Janice Cook, Nationally Certified Teacher of Music, for her outstanding contributions to public awareness of vision therapy and developmental vision care.

In addition to the named awards above, 41 travel grants were awarded onsite to optometry students and residents to help defer expenses for their attendance at the 53rd Annual Meeting. Special thanks to Dr. Robert and Mrs. Linda Sanet for funding the Wold SAFE Fund Travel Grants, in honor of Dr. Robert Wold. We extend our gratitude to all of those who donate their time and resources to the profession.
