Stryker inked a $3 billion deal to dramatically reshape its digital patient outreach efforts with the acquisition of Vocera Communications. Aetion, which offers a real-world evidence (RWE) data platform, has acquired artificial intelligence data specialist Replica Analytics for an undisclosed price. The deal gives Aetion technology that produces synthetic, privacy-protected copies of real-world data that maintain the integrity and utility of source data.
Novo Holdings acquired South Carolina-based sterile injectables manufacturer Ritedose for an undisclosed price. Ritedose, which specializes in blow-fill-seal technology and has been focusing on the outsourced sterile compounding market for drugs in short supply, employs about 400 people at its Columbia, South Carolina, campus.
Novo Holdings and experienced venture capitalists on both sides of the Atlantic have come together to create a new fund focused on rare diseases. Led by VCs who spent years at Lundbeckfonden Ventures and NEA, Sound Bioventures will use its initial 110 million euros ($124 million) to back biotechs that are either in or on the cusp of the clinic.
