The Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs (CAAHEP) is seeking a Recent Graduate, who represents the interests of students in the accreditation of health science education programs, to serve as a Commissioner. If you are or know of a student who graduated from a CAAHEP-accredited program within the last three years, please share the following information and encourage the recent graduate to consider this position. Becoming involved with an organization such as CAAHEP is a tremendous opportunity to become engaged with your profession, gain experience, and broaden your professional network. The outgoing CAAHEP Recent Graduate Commissioners presented at the CAAHEP Symposium with members of the Recent Graduate Task Force, as well as at the CAAHEP Accreditation Workshop. Opportunities for participation in CAAHEP abounds.
Recent Graduate Commissioner Qualifications:
The Recent Graduate Commissioner:
- Is a graduate of a CAAHEP-accredited program within the last three years.
- Understands and is willing to represent on the Commission the interests of students enrolled in health science education programs.
- Is currently working in the health science field for which they were trained.
- Demonstrates active involvement in their health science field.
Recent Graduate Commissioner Roles and Responsibilities:
- Attends the CAAHEP Annual Business Meeting (held virtually every April)
- Participates in the business of the Commission, including electing the CAAHEP Board of Directors, voting on amendments to the CAAHEP Bylaws, changing CAAHEP mission and visiting statements, approving new organizations for members, recognizing health science disciplines, and monitoring the Board of Directors to ensure quality and equity within the CAAHEP system.
- Informs the Commission of any educational concerns that impact the accreditation of academic programs, especially concerns of students and alumni.
- Has the opportunity to address the Commission at the Annual Business Meeting on a topic of their choice.
- Serves as chair of an advisory committee composed of current students or other recent graduates to identify issues of concern to students and report these to the Board of Directors.
Term of Office
The Recent Graduate Commissioner serves for three years, with the term beginning July 2024.
Expenses
Expenses incurred by the Recent Graduate Commissioner in attendance of CAAHEP meetings will be paid by CAAHEP.

To be considered for the Recent Graduate Commissioner position, please complete the Recent Graduate Commissioner Nomination Form by June 1, 2024, for consideration by the Board at their July Board meeting. CAAHEP's Executive Director may contact the references on the Nomination Form. An Advisory Committee of the Board will review all nominees and will make recommendations to the CAAHEP Board. The CAAHEP President will notify the person selected.
