March Training in Partnership with California Lutheran's Center for Nonprofit Leadership
A Capital Campaign is an exciting and important stage in the life of a nonprofit organization! But is your organization ready to conduct a capital campaign? Do you have the organizational capacity to support it? Are your volunteers ready to take on this major project? How will a capital campaign impact your organization’s operations?
These are critical questions, among others, that you should take into account before launching a campaign. Steve Willmont, CFRE, Senior Vice President at Netzel Grigsby Associates will lead this workshop to help you analyze your organization’s readiness for a capital campaign, and the preparation steps you should plan to take. Joining him in this session will be Andrew Peake, Director of Advancement for the Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Oxnard and Port Hueneme. Andrew has just concluded a $5 million capital campaign and will share some of the lessons learned from the experience and the importance of being ready.
Approved for 2 CEs by CFRE International.
This event is co-hosted by the California Lutheran Center for Nonprofit Leadership. AFP and CNL members may attend this event for no additional fee. Not yet members are $20.

The AFP Santa Barbara/Ventura Counties Board of Directors would like to congratulate Sam (Macks) Franz for being selected as this year's Chamberlain Scholar. The Chamberlain Scholarship is made possible by donations made to the Be The Cause campaign allowing the AFP Foundation to cover Sam's conference registration to AFP ICON 2022 in Las Vegas, NV.
Sam is the Corporate Relations Officer at the Santa Barbara Zoo. For over ten years, Sam has enjoyed a diverse career as a non-profit professional. She has worked in conservation, development, education, marketing, and science for a variety of organizations, including the Santa Barbara Zoo, the Santa Barbara Museum of Natural History & Sea Center, Long Live the Kings, Santa Barbara Channelkeeper, Channel Islands Marine & Wildlife Institute, Washington SeaGrant, and the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration's National Marine Fisheries Service. Sam has a Master of Marine & Environmental Affairs (M.M.A.) from the University of Washington's School of Marine & Environmental Affairs.
Sam is honored to be chosen to receive the Chamberlain Scholarship to attend her first AFP ICON Conference. From the conference, she hopes to elevate her skillset as a fundraising professional in tandem with her new role at the Zoo, to empower her Advancement and Zoo-wide team to lean into their bright future, and to create better connections with the AFP community to better serve her role at the Zoo and her leadership roles in the Santa Barbara/Ventura community.
