Dear  ,

If you suddenly found yourself short of funds and with a mailbox full of bills, which bill would you be sure to pay first? For many of us, it'd be our rent or mortgage bill, right? Life would be a lot harder without internet service, a cell phone, and even hot water, but we could survive. Losing the roof over our heads is a different story. Our homes not only provide comfort and protection, they also provide sanctuary  and stability, something every human deserves.

One of the most common things our grants are used for is rent and mortgage payments. Many of the women we help have fallen behind on their rent and mortgage and face the terrifying prospect of eviction. At Shades of Pink Foundation California, we are continuing to give out larger grants in 2017, which can now cover one or two months of rent or mortgage for our grant recipients while they endure breast cancer treatment. With the rent paid, many women can finally take a deep breath and use their limited income to catch up on smaller, less urgent bills.

Your contributions do make a real difference, and don't ever forget it! Scroll down to see how SOPFCA did on our year-end Give Hope fundraising drive, get a sneek peek at the return of Purse Bingo, and to meet one of our generous donors.

Give Hope Campaign, YOU Did It!!!

Back in December (seems like a century ago, right?), we launched an ambitious fundraising campaign to cap off our most successful year yet. The goal of our Give Hope campaign was to raise $5,000.

If we did, two generous anonymous donors agreed to match the funds, which would have put us at $15,000.

We had faith that our donor network would help us hit our target, and we weren't disappointed. We sailed past our $5,000 goal and received the matching funds.

At the end of the day, the Give Hope Campaign
raised $18,165.

That's what we call a smashing success! These funds will help us keep our individual grant amounts high so we can cover bigger expenses like a monthly rent bill or mortgage payment.

If you donated to the Give Hope campaign, spread the word, or just kept us in your thoughts during the busy holiday season, we thank you for your energy, passion, and generous spirit!
Donor Spotlight: NSDCAR

At SOPFCA, we've been fortunate to grow every single year since our founding. One of the main reasons has been our ability to connect with local companies and organizations that are seeking to make a difference in their community.

One of our newest organizational donors is the North San Diego County Association of REALTORS ®. NSDCAR is a trade group of over 5,000 REALTORS ® who live, work, and play in North County San Diego.

Real estate agents have a very special connection to the communities they serve. They've been on all the back roads, know the neighborhoods by heart, and seem to know everybody around town! It's not surprising that these same people would want to make a positive difference in their communities. Over its 20-year history, NSDCAR has helped raise hundreds of thousands of dollars for many worthy causes.

In 2016, the NSDCAR Carlsbad Marketing Sessions chose to donate to SOPFCA. According to NSDCAR's president Michael Carunchio SOPFCA was chosen because it focuses on keeping money in the community by giving grants directly to local women in need. Carunchio also stated that "NSDCAR stands proudly behind all cancer survivors, including the daughters, friends and family of survivors and those who did not survive."

From all of us at SOPFCA, we thank NSDCAR for their generous donation! For more information on NSDCAR, visit

You're going to get more chances to win and a simpler game. Basically, it's going to be bigger and better than last year with all the hottest handbags begging you to take them home!

The San Diego Gulls Went "Pink in the Rink"

Sad to see the Chargers leave San Diego? Well, if you need a local team to root for, consider the San Diego Gulls hockey team.

On Saturday, Feb 4th, these fierce hockey dudes donned the pink when they hosted their second annual "Pink in the Rink Night." Four dollars from every ticket purchased for that game went to one of three breast cancer charities, including Shades of Pink California.

We were extremely excited to be a part of this great event and to watch some amazing hockey as the Gulls took on the Ontario Reign at the Valley View Casino Center. We want to send out a big thank you to the Gulls organization for making charitable giving a priority and to all the fans who choose to send their donation to SOPFCA. Our San Diego community continues to show us how much they can about helping those in need.
