Video Series Launching to improve Maternal and Infant Health

 

Healthcare Network, which provides healthcare to nearly 60 percent of all children in Collier County, recently produced a series of videos thanks to a $27,000 Collier Community Foundation grant to address challenging local maternal and child health issues. The topics of these videos, created in Spanish, Haitian-Creole, and English, include hypertension-preeclampsia, postpartum depression, nutrition during pregnancy, and developmental milestones.

Gull Sculpture Prepared to Take Flight Again After Restoration


The historical bronze sculpture of gulls in flight by Rolfe Nyberg was commissioned in 1965 by the Deltona Corporate for its administrative offices. The sculpture adorned the entrance of the Deltona Sales/Administration office during the development of the Mackle Brother’s planned Marco Island community. In the initial construction phase of Marco Island, the Deltona Corporation built the essential infrastructure, including the Marco Beach Hotel, the Marco Island Yacht Club, and various model homes.

New Programs Help Children Learn to Protect, Restore and Live Safely in Nature 

 

Several decades ago, Dr. Robert Gore began purchasing parcels of property in Golden Gate Estates to remove it from further development and to protect and restore the land. When he passed away, Cypress Cove Landkeepers, Inc. formed to raise funds to purchase ten acres of land, including the Gore home. Conservation Collier purchased the remaining 170 acres.Gore Nature Center’s purpose is to pursue Dr. Gore’s dream to restore the area to its original flora and fauna or, as he would describe it, “to its previously pristine condition.”

A CCF Donor Advised Fund holder recently fulfilled this $5,000 wish from Baker Senior Center Naples for their Dementia Respite Program which provides a nutritious hot lunch daily for our clients. During meal time, Baker Senior Center volunteers and staff engage with their clients with a goal of providing a warm, comfortable atmosphere that fosters light conversation and socialization among clients.

The Trustees Emeriti of the Collier Community Foundation will recognize organizations and individuals for their exceptional community dedication and philanthropic service at the 2024 Celebration of Philanthropy on Friday, November 1, 2024, from 11:30 am to 1:00 pm, at the Naples Grande Beach Resort.
