Vision and Mission Consultant to be Selected at August 6 Board Meeting
Your Board of Trustees is excited to announce planning for a year-long Vision and Mission project that will engage the entire congregation in conversations about who we want to be as a congregation, and what kind of world we want to leave future generations.
We have solicited written proposals from four very capable consultants and we have interviewed three of them. The next step will be selecting one of these consultants, which the board will do at the next board meeting on August 6.
We encourage members to review the proposals and listen to the recordings of our interviews with the candidates. You can find these on the Members Only drive under Board Special Projects > Vision Mission Project 2024-25. Here is the link: Consultant Proposals.
Please reach out to the Board if you have comments or questions, so we can be prepared to address them on August 6. Email: board@uuclb.org.
We will provide more information and other ways for you to participate as we firm up the plans.
Sincerely, your Board of Trustees,
Priscilla Ortiz (President), Maria Hanson (V.P.), Gina Stephens (Clerk), Edie Mickey-Slveria, Jonathan Sneller, Lisa Moore (Trustees)

Social Justice Collection | |
|
Our Social Justice recipient for the month of August is DAYS Long Beach. For more than 50 years, DAYS Long Beach has supported low-income, under-served families in Long Beach. They support achievement by providing children and families with opportunities to develop skills, apply concepts they have learned, and build positive relationships. Through free educational programming and youth development activities, they continue to be a mainstay in the community. DAYS’ programs focus on youth education and support, leadership and academic success, and community engagement. Through a holistic approach to helping youth and families of Long Beach, DAYS Long Beach provides critical support to members of our community to help build future success. Two examples of programs are the Summer DAYS free six-week day camp and an afterschool program during the year. There are also youth leadership programs, and other campaigns that affect the health and welfare of the community are worked on as well. For more information about DAYS Long Beach, go to https://www. dayslb.org.
Our social justice collection takes place on the second Sunday, but you can support DAYS Long Beach until the last Sunday of August by mail, text, or online. If by mail, note “Social Justice Collection” on your check, and send it to UUCLB, 5450 E. Atherton St., Long Beach, CA 90808. Using Text-to-Give, text the words “25 Special Collection” and the amount to 833-931-1845. To give $25, for example, text “25 Special Collection $25.” To cover any convenience fees for the church, you can add the word “cover” (so “25 Special Collection $25 cover”) or simply text “Cover fees on” to cover fees on all text gifts. To give online, go to https://www.uuclb.org/give/
