Moosehaven Residents Are Always Active!
As you know, we have made a name for ourselves at Moosehaven – “AAA” – because our residents are Always Active At Moosehaven!

We are hosting the Moosehaven Senior Olympics on August 5-6 where residents will compete in various sports including basketball, cornhole, golf, pong, darts, billiards, bowling, and more. Keep in mind their average age is 80.1 years!

This event was organized solely by a group of residents, who managed to promote it as a fun and exciting event. We have over 40 residents who are all geared up for this event.

It is great to see our residents utilize Moosehaven's many amenities in ways such as this. Kudos to all the residents who named it, planned it, and are executing it!

Hurricane Season Preparations
Moosehaven’s location on the banks of the St. John River provides for panoramic views, year-round fishing, and the beauty of nature. But as with all Florida living, preparations for summer storms are essential.

Moosehaven has a Comprehensive Emergency Management Plan, which is reviewed and updated annually. Extensive preparations have been made to meet the needs of our residents and staff during any inclement weather. We closely monitor tropical activity and store water, food, medical supplies, and generator fuel on-site. We also have provisions for our four-legged residents, as they are an important part of our family.

We have the plans, resources, and staffing to provide care in the event that severe weather impacts our area. In the rare event that evacuation is ordered, we shelter our residents, staff, and their families on campus. Brandon Place residents are moved into apartments in our Category 4-rated HealthCare Center and Centennial Hall. Both are fully staffed and prepared to provide services to all Moosehaven residents.

Over our 101-year history, Moosehaven has witnessed both the serenity and strength of nature. But rest assured that we are experienced and prepared for any weather event.
Sunshine Grandparent Program
Moosehaven residents come from all over the United States, as well as Canada and England! That means they may be far from family and friends.

Lodges and Chapters, State Associations, Council of Higher Degrees, other Moose affiliated groups, and even individual Moose members are encouraged to “adopt” a Moosehaven resident under the Sunshine Grandparent program.

Simple gestures, such as exchanging emails or sending cards to celebrate birthdays and holidays, can make a big difference. Sharing stories and life’s journeys builds strong and lasting relationships. This program enriches not only the lives of the Moosehaven seniors but also the lives of those who adopt them.
