The need for accessible, affordable housing and supportive services for older adults is already great and will continue to grow. According to the State of the Nation’s Housing report released last month by Harvard University’s Joint Center for Housing Studies, the number of householders age 65 and older is expected to rise by 1.1 million each year until 2028 as the baby boom generation ages.

Habitat for Humanity International has developed "learning paths" which will further train and support Habitat SLO as we implement our Aging in Place initiative as part of our Home Preservation Program. These tools will help us to thoughtfully develop integrated health and housing programs in the response to this dramatic growth in opportunity to provide services to older adults in our community.
By studying these practical, applicable resources, we hope to better understand the gap between health and housing, and develop programs consistent with best practices from a variety of supportive resources. Click to learn more about the work of our Home Preservation Program.
