Whitman's Community Garden is Welcoming Spring!

The weather has been beautiful, with warm days and lots of sun – signs that spring is finally here. Whitman residents have welcomed spring with open arms by checking the community garden beehives and turning the soil in the garden plots. Earthworms and happy bees said hello to our happy gardeners as well!

Hotels in Whitman

In the mid-1800s, Whitman had multiple hotels. It was still South Abington at that point. The four hotels were Hobart House, Bates House, Standish House, and Pratt House.

By the time 1938 rolled around, Hobart Hotel was the only hotel remaining. It had been operating continuously.

Whitman-Hanson High School Promotes Inclusivity!

On Monday, March 21, Whitman-Hanson High School's Student Council and Best Buddies organization led a school activity that promoted inclusive language to raise awareness against harmful vocabulary that stigmatizes and excludes disabled and neurodivergent peers. Best Buddies is a group where high school students are paired with those who have intellectual and/or developmental disabilities (IDD) to build long-lasting, supportive friendships!
"STAMPING OUT THE R WORD - STARTING INCLUSION WEEK:
On Monday, Student Council and Best Buddies gave students and Staff the chance to Stamp out the R-word during lunches. Students picked their favorite color and TOGETHER over 300 students and staff stamped out the R-word. When we finished, we hung the sign in the Lobby outside the Main Office for all to see and show everyone that W-H supports Inclusion."

Thank you for setting an example of what a loving community looks like in practice.

Taking the lead from Mother Earth, springing into re-birth.

Looking at our lives and thinking: what can I change to make life work better for me?

Eat cleaner (less chemical additives)? Incorporate exercises that are fun or fulfilling, so I actually DO them? Stretch & center myself in the day so that I can start off in a calm and spiritually in-tune state of mind?

Whatever you choose, be kind to yourself. Each day we begin again, each day we get another chance to build the life we want.

I'm looking forward to seeing us bloom! ~ Jacquie
“I am dead because I lack desire,
I lack desire because I think I possess,
I think I possess because I do not try to give,
In trying to give, you see that you have nothing,
Seeing that you have nothing, you try to give of yourself,
Trying to give of yourself, you see that you are nothing,
Seeing that you are nothing, you desire to become,
In desiring to become, you begin to live.”
