The ITGA 2021 Conference Update
The City of Milwaukee, WI and Marquette University have landed yet another reason to celebrate their long standing and productive history of positive town-gown relations. The Conference Planning Committee members from Milwaukee and Marquette are gearing up to proudly serve as host for the 2nd virtual City & University Relations Conference, May 24-26, presented by the International Town & Gown Association (ITGA).
There is growing recognition of the benefits of positive town-gown relations. The colleges/universities and their host cities that make town-gown relationships a top priority often create stronger communities and high quality living and learning environments. With municipal spending and taxation limits, state budget cuts, and concerns about the 2020 Census Undercounts and the global pandemic, cities and universities need to find more ways to share costs of services and programs and leverage economies of scale. The ITGA's 2021 City & University Relations Conference provides the forum to do just that.
The ITGA Conference was established for city and university leadership, off-campus programs, city and campus planners, community and economic development professionals, and other participants across the globe to come together for a time to share what they have learned from past experiences, explore ways to enhance existing relationships, and Innovate for Tomorrow, Together, this year's conference theme. What makes this event unique is the cross-disciplinary nature of the conversations. Only at the ITGA City & University Relations Conference will you find elected officials and city administrators alongside university leadership and staff, campus and city planners, mayors, university presidents, student affairs, community and government relations staff, law enforcement officials and students. The conference energy empowers the creative development and implementation of innovative solutions.

What Campuses and Communities Need to Know Now!
Friday, April 16, 1:00 pm (ET) Webinar: The Updated College Alcohol Intervention Matrix (CollegeAIM): What Colleges and Communities Need to Know Now.
Join ITGA, NIAAA and panelist Jason Kilmer, Ph.D., Associate Professor, Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences, University of Washington and other distinguished panelists for this important discussion. In 2015, the National Institute on Alcohol Abuse and Alcoholism (NIAAA) released the College Alcohol Intervention Matrix (CollegeAIM). CollegeAIM is (and was) the most comprehensive tool ever developed to support college campuses (and community coalitions) in their strategic planning related to alcohol prevention, intervention, and policies. If strategic planning has not already begun, this webinar provides the chance to hear about what the science says about best practices in a “mix of strategies,” and to learn how campuses and organizations can use CollegeAIM to plan for Fall of 2021 and beyond. Celebrating our #StonyBrookStrongHeroes
Stony Brook, NY: Stony Brook University President Maurie McInnis invited the university community to recognize those Seawolves who went above and beyond to help each other stay safe during the pandemic. "Starting my tenure at the beginning of the pandemic, I couldn’t have predicted how challenging my first year as President would be. But at the same time, I couldn’t have predicted the incredible way our community members kept each other’s spirits alive, our mission intact, and our sense of responsibility and accountability strong. So many Seawolves went above and beyond to help each other stay safe during the pandemic while our essential workers responded to the emergency. So many individuals joined together in a demonstration of talent, hard work, and togetherness. There are countless people to thank in the effort to stay #StonyBrookStrong." Stony Brook University
