M. Paloma Pavel and Carl Anthony,
Co-founders of Breakthrough Communities rode the Climate Train to New York last week to participate with 400,000 others in the largest climate march the world has seen. We will provide reports on this historic moment from frontline communities in New York and around the world.

While in NYC for Climate week, we celebrated the launch of the
Random Kindness Community Resilience Project at the New School/Milano School of International Affairs, with panelists from the NAACP, the Grassroots Global Justice Alliance, the Center for Biological Diversity, New Village Press and the University of Illinois, Chicago (More information here).

This Thursday October 2nd, M. Paloma Pavel brings the Random Kindness Community Resilience Project back home to the Bay Area with a multimedia presentation intended as an inspiration and resource for community engagement, participatory planning and community organizing. The message in Random Kindness is an urgent call to action: in an age of climate crisis, we must work together to create the world we want to live in--a world based on sustainability with justice.

Known to many as the 'Matisse of Japan', Mayumi Oda has done extensive work with female goddess imagery. In addition to her work as an artist, Mayumi has spent many years of her life as a 'global activist' participating in anti-nuclear campaigns worldwide. Mayumi has moved to a climate refugee camp outside of Kyoto and is dedicating the next stage of her life to transforming and rebuilding a peaceful and safe-energy Japan. Mayumi is completing a forthcoming Safe Energy Handbook with Claire Greensfelder.
