In response to the question, What is a protest? Allison's amazing answer was "To stand up for your opinions."
|
Ralph Inzunza was a recent MNC Distinguished Speaker Series guest. He shared his latest book, Border Citizen, with 71 children and youth. It is the vibrant story of a young Carlos Reyes growing up along the border of the United States and Mexico during the 1980’s.
Ralph opened with an engaging conversation with long-time friend and mentor Richard Ybarra. He reads excerpts from his book and discusses what it means to be different, standing up to injustice and his goal to share stories that focus on the Latino communities and culture. Ralph taught the audience how to do a “Chicano/Latino” handshake mentioned in his book and how to do the “Farmworkers” or “Labor Movement’s” clap that the participants were able to do perfectly. The children’s attention, participation and focus, was riveting. They stood in line to get their books signed. One young person said, “I just met someone famous.”
MNC also presented Ralph with the Distinguished Speaker Series mug and concluded with free copies of Border Citizen with personalized signings. Thank you, Ralph Inzunza for coming to MNC’s Wolfsohn Campus and sharing your inspiring book with us!

The atmosphere is welcoming and open for sharing experiences
Richard encourages the papas to keep attending the Male Warrior sessions
|
The second MNC Male Warriors session included a lot of excitement for the papas who came back for more super fellowship. They said they enjoyed the first session and felt welcomed and enjoyed sharing experiences with other men, this time with Richard Ybarra, who was introduced as a friend, a father, and MNC CEO. Richard encouraged them to keep attending the amazing Male Warrior sessions for the benefit and impact their participation will make in their families, with their children and as individuals. The papas looked and felt relaxed while exchanging parenting experiences with Richard.
The papas appreciate the Male Warriors series, and some stated they never had an opportunity like this before now. The Male Warriors series continues, and we have five more sessions to go and many more surprises to come!
