RAISING A READER?

Are you raising a reader? Talking and reading aloud to your child are the most important things you can do to promote language development and reading skills – great predictors of school success.

Redwood City Public Library’s storytimes are designed to develop literacy, inspire a love of reading and encourage social connections in your little ones. Each storytime includes reading fun, inclusive books, interactive songs, a welcoming environment, and time to socialize and play. Our storytimes are age appropriate with book and activity selections tailored to children’s development. We encourage caregivers to choose the storytime appropriate to their child’s age.

NOTE: Storytimes at all locations are taking a break from August 5 through September 8 so that we can prepare for a fun and enriching fall.

WELCOMING REDWOOD CITY

In September, Redwood City Public Library along with Welcoming Redwood City community partners are offering a host of unifying programs for Welcoming Week and United Against Hate Week. Join us September 13-28, 2024, as we celebrate the diverse communities of Redwood City and North Fair Oaks. It is a time to reflect on the ways that we can foster belonging for all and unite against hate.

Welcoming Week, September 13-22, reflects on ways we can break barriers so that we can foster belonging for all, including immigrants and refugees. Programs include Meet Your Neighbors, Fiestas Patrias, the annual Welcoming Star Award ceremony, and more. Learn more

United Against Hate Week, September 21-28, is a call for local civic action to stop the hate and implicit biases that are a dangerous threat to the safety and civility of our neighborhoods, towns and cities. Programs include CAIR Bystander Intervention Training, Teddy Bear Tea, and more. Learn more
