As Staff Appreciation Week draws to a close, we want to take a moment to extend our heartfelt gratitude to everyone who made this week truly special for our dedicated staff members. It has been a week filled with gratitude, kindness, and recognition for the incredible work our staff does each day to support our students and school community.

We are immensely grateful to the members of the PTSA who generously provided treats throughout the week, ensuring our staff felt appreciated and energized. From the morning coffee to the afternoon snacks, your thoughtfulness did not go unnoticed. Your efforts have truly made a difference in brightening the days of our staff members.

A special thank you also goes to Moms in Prayer for their delicious Italian lunch, a savory delight that was enjoyed by all. Your generosity and support are deeply appreciated. The shared meal provided not only nourishment but also a moment for our staff to come together and connect in a meaningful way.

Additionally, we want to express our gratitude to our ASB leaders for their efforts in creating a festive atmosphere throughout the week. From inspirational posters to thoughtful messages, your dedication to celebrating our certificated and classified staff members did not go unnoticed. Your creativity and enthusiasm brought joy to our entire school community, reminding us all of the importance of recognizing and appreciating the hard work and dedication of our staff members.

As we reflect on this week of appreciation, let us continue to carry forward the spirit of gratitude and recognition for our staff members, not just during this designated week, but every day throughout the year. Whether it's a simple thank you or a kind gesture, let us strive to show our appreciation for the invaluable contributions our staff makes to our school community each and every day.

Thank you once again to everyone who contributed to making Staff Appreciation Week at Sonora High School a memorable and uplifting experience. Your support and generosity have truly made a difference, and we are grateful for each and every one of you.

Medical Careers - Medical Assisting Certification

Last Thursday, our Medical Academy Seniors took a very challenging 3-hour, NCCT Certification Exam and we are thrilled to announce that 73% of our Seniors passed!! This is quite a jump from last year's 3% (and no that's not a typo)!! With the national average pass rate in 2023 at 56%, it's extra impressive to see our percentage nearly 20 points higher.

Congratulations to all the Seniors and to Mrs.Edmonds who made a conscious choice this year to prepare for the exam!! Your efforts definitely paid off!!

Greetings Sonora Raider Families!

AP and IB exam testing is right around the corner. Please see the schedule below. Students will receive detailed instructions from their teachers according to each exam, but we wanted to remind our community about the upcoming testing. Our students and teachers have been working diligently to prepare for these exams, and we are very excited for the students to demonstrate their knowledge and skills.

Most of the examinations will be held in the new gymnasium, although some of the smaller ones will be in classrooms. All of these exams are aligned with AP and IB classes, and every student knows which exams they are taking. We would ask that you encourage your student in this endeavor, and applaud their courage and tenacity in pursuing this challenge. If your child is not taking an AP or IB exam this year, perhaps it is something that they could think about pursuing before they graduate. We have teachers who are committed to helping students pursue mastery in every discipline. As always, thank you for your support.

Please reach out to me if you have any specific questions.

Attendance Counts!

Tardy Policy

Arriving at each class on time will continue to be a priority for our staff in the second semester. We want all students to understand the importance of arriving to school and class on time, every day. In addition to implementing the tardy policy below, we will also be implementing random tardy sweeps throughout the semester to encourage punctuality and remind students of the importance of being on time to ensure the opportunity for academic success. Please see the policy below as written in the Student Handbook (pg 21):

Punctuality

All students are expected to be in their scheduled class each period by the time the tardy bell rings.  No students are to be in the hallways after the tardy bell rings, including those who have athletics sixth period or who have an open period at any time during the day.  Students are also not to be sent on errands without an appropriate pass from the teacher.  Students without passes will be sent back to class.

Consequences For Tardies

-Tardies 1-4: teacher-assigned consequences and parent contact by teacher

-Tardy Report by APSS: 5 or more tardies will result in a detention

He built strong relationships with all of his student-athletes and will be missed on the Sonora campus. Thank you Coach Brad for all of your efforts investing in the lives of these student-athletes and our Aquatics program.
