Dear Students and Parents,

I hope this message finds you well as we wrap up another fantastic week at Sonora High School! The highlight of this week was undoubtedly our annual Club Rush, which brought an exciting atmosphere to our campus. It was wonderful to see so many students exploring the wide variety of clubs and organizations we have to offer.

Club Rush is more than just an event; it’s an opportunity for our students to discover their passions, connect with new friends, and find their place within our school community. From academic clubs to service organizations, from the arts to athletics, there truly is something for everyone. Watching students engage, ask questions, and sign up for clubs that align with their interests and talents was a reminder of the diversity students bring to Sonora High.

We are so proud of the initiative our students showed this week, and we look forward to seeing the growth, friendships, and projects that will come from their involvement in these clubs. Let’s continue to make this school year a memorable one filled with learning, connection, and personal growth.

Thank you to all the students, staff, and club advisors who helped make Club Rush a success. Let’s keep this positive momentum going!

Please remember there is no school tomorrow in observance of the Labor Day Holiday! Have a wonderful weekend!

Please be advised that due to the need to balance class sizes, there may be changes to student schedules this week. This balancing process is essential to ensure that all classes are appropriately sized for optimal learning environments. This process may require changes to teachers and/or class periods for students.

Key Points to Note:

  • Students will still have the same courses, but the periods may be rearranged.
  • Some students may have a change in their assigned teachers.
  • We will do our best to minimize the number of class changes; however, adjustments may still be necessary for some students.

Students who are impacted by these changes will receive an email over the weekend with instructions on how to check their Aeries portal for their updated schedule. Please note that if your student’s schedule is adjusted, we will not be able to revert to the previous schedule.

We understand that changes can be challenging, and we appreciate your cooperation and understanding during this process as we work to create the best possible learning experience for all students.

Boys Water Polo: The Raiders went 1-1 in tournament play this week. Noah Samanta led the way with 13 goals in 2 games. Christian Jeng scored 5 goals and Nathan Woo scored his first career goal in a Raider win over Santa Fe.

Girls Tennis: Owynn Barslund and Sydney Seo dominated doubles going 3-0 vs. Cal High on Tuesday.

Girls Volleyball: The Lady Raiders had a strong showing this week, finishing 2-1. #12 Sarah Gehrig shined with 9 kills and 7 digs, leading the team to victory against Los Altos. Meanwhile, #17 Molly Luhm dominated at the service line, delivering an impressive 12 aces in the win over Whittier Christian.

Flag Football: After taking their first loss of the season against a tough Yorba Linda team on the road, the girls bounced back at home in dominating fashion as they took down Garden Grove, 28-0. Solid performances from Sophie Forrester and Liana Hwang on the offensive side of the ball.

Football; The team went on the road for the first time this season and faced a solid Northwood HS team. The Raiders went on to fall to the Timberwolves, 26-9, but there were bright spots as Anthony Abad led the way on the ground for the evening. Also, Tyler Hunnicut threw his first career touchdown in the second half on a 19-yard strike to Alexsay Nazaroff.
