THE REVEREND DEACON JAMES MOORE


The Reverend Deacon James Raymond Moore (age 82) died suddenly while swimming on Wednesday, May 29, 2024. James was ordained a vocational Deacon by Bishop George Packard on January 15, 2009, at St. John’s Episcopal Church, Guam, on behalf of the Diocese of Hawaiʻi.


James spent his professional life as a teacher in the Guam Public School system. He was also a teacher and then Chaplain at St. John’s School, Guam. He was an active lay leader of St. John’s Church before ordination. He continued to serve God’s people of St. John’s Church and St. Paul’s Church, Saipan, after ordination.


The burial office with Requiem Eucharist is scheduled for Friday, June 14, 2024, at St. John’s Episcopal Church, 911 North Marine Corps Drive, Tamuning, Guam 96913.


Monetary gifts in the memory of James may be given to St. John’s Episcopal Church, 911 North Marine Corps Drive, Tamuning, GU 96913.


Notes of condolence may be sent to James’s spouse, Mr. Larry Nicolas, 214 C Lizama St., Barrigada, GU 96913


ALMIGHTY AND ETERNAL GOD, to whom there is never any prayer made without hope of mercy, be merciful to the soul of your faithful servant, James, being departed from this world in the confession of your Holy Name that he and all the departed may be welcomed into the company of thy saints, through Christ our Lord. Amen.


Rest eternal grant him, O Lord, and let light perpetual shine upon him. May our brother, James, rest in peace. Amen.
