Homeless Health Initiative: Working to Connect Shelters with Healthcare

People experiencing homelessness and residing in emergency shelters are often unable to visit primary care providers consistently. They rely on emergency room visits for routine health issues. Or they are unaware of their health insurance status and benefits available to them. RHD is working to address these issues.

Imagine That!


Beginning October 7 and running through December, Austin Dearth from Imagine That! has his art displayed on two billboards in the Crossroads Arts District in Kansas City. Austin is one of eight Kansas City artists who was selected to display their art funded by the Charlotte Street Arts Foundation.

New Foundations/YALE


Each semester, two occupational therapy (OT) students work with New Foundations/YALE’s participants to provide them with extra support. They help participants with daily tasks, such as getting to and from important appointments, grocery shopping, and cooking nutritious meals. This past September, they hosted a fun reunion for past, present, and future OT students along with past and present participants.
