Session Purpose and Goals

The Red River Community Housing Development Organization and Red River Regional Council are leading a housing study, needs assessment, and action plan to better understand how the region and its municipalities can both protect the existing housing stock and expedite needed new residential development. The region sees housing as a critical issue due to its economic impact, with the lack of housing stock limiting economic growth and causing regional job and population loss in most of the region’s rural areas.

These Build Sessions, facilitated by our consultant Fourth Economy, aim to move us from research and analysis to ideation and action.

Through engaging critical stakeholders - regional leaders, elected officials, builders, lenders, policy makers, and others in this interactive session, feasible solutions will be crafted that stem from dialogue amongst the individuals and organizations who can help implement these bold ideas.

The session will include a brief overview of the focus area topic, breakout group discussion, and report-outs. All notes and ideas from the session will be captured for use in the development of an impactful, actionable implementation plan.
