RESEDA NC AT LARGE & YOUNG ADULT MEMBER POSITIONS OPEN!


There’s three types of people, those who make things happen, those who let things happen, and those who wonder what happened. Don’t you want to be the first type?

Well, YOU CAN BE!

The RNC is your way to help make a difference in your community. From telling the city how you want development in your community to be done, to organizing cleanups, to working on problems currently facing your community like chronic homelessness and urban blight, to organizing events for the community’s youth and seniors, and initiating events like the annual Artwalk. The RNC is working to change things for the better, and we need your help to do it!

We currently have TWO Board Member positions open to be filled by active, dedicated community members who want Reseda to improve. These positions are for At- Large (2) and Young Adult Board Member Vacancies. Any Stakeholder interested in filling a vacancy on the Board shall submit a written application to the Secretary (secretary@resedacouncil.org) at any time before a vote is taken, and the application must specify the stakeholder category the applicant is running for.

We also have committees looking for volunteers to help such as the Planning and Land Use Management Committee that helps chart the course for Reseda’s development and evaluates and considers proposed developments in the community, or the Unhoused Neighbor Advocacy Committee which is advising the city on possible solutions to the current unhoused crisis.

POTHOLES, POTHOLES, POTHOLES



Rain seeps through pavement cracks, washes out sand and dirt beneath the pavement, it collapses and a pothole appears. You drive over it or into it and your vehicle is damaged.

After the record breaking rainfall that we have had over the past week, there will surely be many new POTHOLES. Please report them as soon as you see them as soon as you see them!!!!!

Help the City and all of the other motorists and report them as soon as possible. Call 311, or preferably use the myla311 app. This app saves you time and gets the repair done faster. The photo is identified with its exact location. If you phone it in, you must give the direction of traffic, the lane number and the distance from nearest intersection

LADOT SPEED HUMP PROGRAM APPLICATION

The Los Angeles Department of Transportation (LADOT) Speed Hump Program application opens this month on Thursday March 21st at 9:00am. The installation of speed humps is intended to reduce incidences of excessive vehicular speeding on residential roadways. Neighborhoods can request a speed hump on residential streets with one lane of traffic in each direction with a speed limit of 30 MPH or less.

REGISTRATION FOR DAY OF SERVICE


Dear Neighbor,

It is my pleasure to invite you to our Third Annual Valley Day of Service on Sunday, April 14!

We're partnering with dozens of community groups and nonprofits to work on service projects across the San Fernando Valley. Projects include cleaning our neighborhoods, packing outreach kits for our unhoused neighbors, supporting domestic violence survivors, donating blood, and so much more!

All volunteers should meet at Pierce College at 9:30 a.m. for breakfast, directions, and some positive energy!

February 1, 2024 was the deadline to repay rent owed between October 1, 2021, and January 31, 2023. The City of Los Angeles is working to prevent renter households from losing their homes and is spreading the message about resources available to help prevent Angelenos from self evicting.

Determine Type of Notice - When to Respond?

If you received a pay or quit notice, you are typically not required to file an answer but you should reach out to the Los Angeles Housing Department. For the eviction process to be initiated after a 3-day notice, you will still need to receive an Unlawful Detainer (UD) notice.

$500 MICROGRANTS

The Nextdoor Kind Foundation launched an LA County microgrant program today that will award $500 grants to individuals making a difference in their neighborhoods and communities. There will be 100 grants awarded and the application takes no longer than 10 minutes.

STUDENT ADVENTURE PASSES

Metrolink is now offering free Student Adventure Passes to students of any age (as long as they show their school ID). They be purchased in-person at station kiosks or through their app and can be used anytime. 


Metrolink is also extending their service times on their Antelope Valley Line. Trains will run almost every hour and later into the night as their switch from being a commuter train service to a regional one. This won’t directly impact our neighborhood or the Ventura County Line that serves yet, but their plan is to trial regional service on the AVL before applying the same changes to other lines (like the VCL).

The GoPass Program is available to students at participating K-12 schools and community colleges, with a focus on helping students ride transit without the worry of paying fare. With a registered GoPass TAP card, students attending participating schools can ride Metro and other participating systems to and from school, and for trips after school and on weekends.
