Presented by the Tucson Department of Transportation. The Coalition requested an updated noise study to help understand what kinds of mitigation should occur along Grant Road. Here it is! Come with your questions or comments. Will the results show an increase, enough to merit walls? All adjacent neighbors from Euclid to Tucson Blvd need to attend.

All neighbors welcome to attend. Help define the northern border of your neighborhood. The coalition, in negotiations with the City, was able to prevent commercial development and preserve R-1 and NR-1 for the central segments. The coalition, in negotiations with the City, was able to obtain City funding for the consultant to redistrict the Historic boundaries to preserve JP's historic status. Neighborhood oversight improves the process and the eventual outcome. Watch for all updates at

Design Proposals completed by Spring
|
The U of A College of Architecture + Landscape Architecture +Design is assisting with the Linear Park concept that the Grant Road central segments Coalition will be proposing to the Mayor and Council. This graduate level class of approximately 12 students begins work March 21 with a presentation from the coalition to the class. Students will research the issues and maps involved in the Grant Road Project. They will consider noise and visual abatements.
There will be time for resident input the
week of April 18 when the students will present their initial concepts for feedback. During the week of May 2 they will present their final designs to the residents. Jefferson Park, SAMOS, Catalina Vista, and Campbell Grant neighborhoods will all be invited to give input to the proposal.
As the process unfolds it will be posted to the coalition web-site grantroadcoalition.com.

PROPOSED CLOSURE OF HAMPTON
|
Neighbors living near the intersection of Hampton and Grant experience the cut-through traffic from Euclid and Grant. They expect traffic to increase as Grant Road increases to 6 lanes and as the Michigan left is installed. In mid 2015 those neighbors obtained the required number of signatures on a petition to have Hampton closed south of the Sausage Deli exit. At first it was hoped that the Grant Road Project could undertake the closing as part of the over-all design. When that was not possible the neighborhood decided to pursue the project with the city. The issues are:
*cost of project (to be assumed by neighborhood)
*accessibility for Emergency Vehicles
* turn around ability for city vehicles. i.e. waste management etc.
* city concerns have to be addressed by a licensed engineer
Preliminary planning has begun. A retired engineer from our adjacent neighborhood, SAMOS, is working with the city to resolve the issues on behalf of Jefferson Park. Under consideration now is a partial closure. That is, closing the entrance into Hampton from Grant. Neighborhood traffic could still exit Hampton onto Grant. Bollards would be installed across the incoming lane with appropriate signage. Emergency vehicles can cross lanes to pass and turn-around is possible for large service vehicles. As the project evolves plans will be posted to the neighborhood website jeffersonpark.info.
Going forward the neighborhood expects neighbor input. If you would like to serve on the committee or have suggestions for fundraising for the cost of the closure ($3 - $4 thousand) contact Suzanne Trappman suzannetrp@gmail.com.

TRRG is powering up to continue its work of bringing positive change to City of Tucson government. The following is on TRRG's agenda for the first third of the new year:
A CONVERSATION WITH MICHAEL ORTEGA
-
Saturday, January 9, 2016 at the Community Room at Ward 6, 3202 E. First Street, 1:00-3:00 P. M.
This is a
follow-up to our June 20, 2015 event
, Mr. Ortega, Meet TRRG. At that time attendees were asked to submit questions they would like him to answer in 6 months. Those submissions are too many and too varied to address all, but they will be the basis for organizing the content of this conversation. This is a public event, so encourage potential TRRG members to come with you.
