Competition & Opportunity in Real Estate

Comprehensive overview of how REALTORS® and local MLS broker marketplaces benefit consumers

How is NAR promoting equity in homeownership?

NAR is leading the industry in addressing an historically unjust system. Among other things, we advocate for policy change in Washington and increased funding for the Office of Fair Housing and Equal Opportunity. In 2020, we unanimously passed a Fair Housing Action Plan, which engages and mobilizes our 1.5 million REALTORS® to protect and advance housing in America. Also, local broker marketplaces that REALTORS® and other real estate agents feed into are a critical fair housing tool because they make the majority of inventory in a particular market available to all people regardless of race, income or other background.

Buyer’s Rep Agreement: Why Should Buyers Sign One?

Clients and customers are separated by one main difference — a contractual relationship.

When you formalize a working relationship with clients through a buyer's repreentation agreement, you detail what services consumers are entitled to and what you as the buyer broker expects from your client in return.

Housing supply is a statewide challenge, but rural Indiana has seen residential inventory drop 20% since 2018 while adding new housing units at less than half the statewide pace.

Small towns are thinking big about the future: The majority of Indiana’s rural counties have improved net migration since 2019, reflecting a national trend: The National Association of REALTORS® reports that nearly half (48%) of all homes purchased in 2022 were in small towns and rural areas – an all-time high in homebuying share. The rural economy is also benefiting from new manufacturing investments, agricultural and energy innovation. But housing has to keep up, and homeownership is vital to reinvesting in and revitalizing rural Indiana.

Real Estate License Renewal

Countdown to June 30, 2023

  • If it’s your first license renewal, read this: Your annual CE requirement doesn’t kick in for two years (because you should be focused on completing your 30-hour post-licensing course). So double-check the issue date of your license – you likely don’t have CE to complete before the June 30th deadline, or you may only need to complete the current twelve hours.
  • Brokers must complete all required Continuing Education for the three-year licensing cycle – 36 hours of CE total – before submitting their license renewal application. You risk a fine or license suspension if you apply before completing your CE.
  • REALTORS® have access to member-benefit CE (online and on-demand) through RECP: IAR offers member-benefit CE through our Real Estate Certification Program (RECP) at RECP.org
  • RACI is offering 2-day 12 hour CE Package in-person May 3 & 4 in Kokomo: 2-Day Package or Day 1 Only or Day 2 Only
