Dear Friends,
New Jersey has lost more than 7,200 residents at long-term care facilities to covid19, this is why they are among the first in line to get vaccinated. Governor Phil Murphy, joined by New Jersey Department of Health Commissioner Judith Persichilli and CVS Health Regional Director Kat Kingston, Monday visited Roosevelt Care Center in Old Bridge to mark the launch of the state's vaccination effort of residents and staff of long-term care facilities.

The vaccinations are being administered pursuant to the Federal Pharmacy Partnership for Long-Term Care Program, a partnership between the Centers for Disease Control (CDC), CVS, and Walgreens to facilitate on-site covid vaccination services. Through the Federal pharmacy Partnership for Long-Term Care Program, New Jersey already has 291 long-term care facilities scheduled and over 83,000 residents and staff scheduled to receive vaccinations through the beginning of February 2021, with more sites to be added in the coming weeks. These vaccination protocols will help ensure we come through this unprecedented public health emergency together and return to living our lives with our families and friends.

The deadline to apply for the Senior Freeze Property Tax Reimbursement is extended again
eligible applicants now have until February 1st to apply for relief. State Treasurer Elizabeth Maher Muoio announced today that New Jersey property owners who are eligible for the Senior Freeze property tax reimbursement program will have an additional month to apply for the relief program, with the application deadline now being extended until February 1, 2021.
New Jersey's Senior Freeze program reimburses eligible senior citizens and disabled individuals for increases in property taxes or mobile home park site fees on their principal residence. The covid-19 pandemic has presented ongoing challenges in obtaining the paperwork needed from local governments in order to complete the application, prompting Treasury’s Division of Taxation to extend the deadline for a second time. In October, Treasury initially announced that the deadline was being extended from November 2, 2020 to December 31, 2020. Applications for the current 2019 Senior Freeze were mailed in February to the last address taxpayers filed with. Anyone who did not receive a booklet should contact the New Jersey Division of Taxation's Senior Freeze Property Tax Reimbursement Information Line for assistance at 1-800-882-6597 (The U.S. Postal Service does not forward application booklets).
The Division of Taxation began issuing payments on October 15 and will continue to do so on an ongoing basis as applications are received. Applicants can check the status/amount of their Senior Freeze reimbursement for 2017, 2018, and 2019 online.

Message from the Assemblyman:

New Years Day
New Year's Day, also simply called New Year, is observed on 1 January, the first day of the year on the modern Gregorian calendar as well as the Julian calendar. In pre-Christian Rome under the Julian calendar, the day was dedicated to Janus, god of gateways and beginnings, for whom January is also named.
Martin Luther King Jr. Day
The Martin Luther King Jr. holiday on Jan. 18, 2021, marked the 26th anniversary of the day of service that celebrates the Civil Rights leader's life and legacy.
