Are you in love with Unicorne beads?  I sure am!  The colors are rich, the shapes are fun, and their large holes makes them easy to work with!  On top of all that they're made of borosilicate glass so that they're very durable (much more so than other glass types) and they're handmade in the United States

We always carry a rotating selection of Unicorn teardrops and focal beads, but twice a year we host a trunk show where we have 30 trays of Unicorne beads. It's amazing!  The show is going on now through Saturday, April 1st.

Looking for a necklace that dresses up an everyday outfit without being too formal?  The Cascade Necklace is quick and easy to make.  The only tools you need are scissors, tape measure, hypo cement, and blue tape. We're offering this design as a promo pattern during the Unicorne Trunk Show.  Pop in and pick up the supplies to make the necklace (2 strands of Uniocorn Donuts & 1 pack of Greek Leather) and you'll get the instruction sheet for free.

Curious about the marudai?  Now is your chance to give it a try without a big time commitment!  In this 2 hour class, you'll  set up the marudai and tama and learn the Kusari Tsunagi braiding sequence.  You'll love this braid for the straight stripes of color in the finished braid and the easy to follow braiding sequence.  Once you master the moves, it's easy to add beads to this braid.

Kumihimo Math
Saturday, April 1st
12:30 - 1:30 PM
$30

Five Marbles Kumihimo
Saturday, April 1st
2:30 - 4:30 PM
$30

Now that you know how to make a kumihimo beaded rope, it's time to learn the secret of adding focal beads!  This technique is very useful because most focal beads have smaller holes that won't fit over the finished beaded braid.

There is homework for this class, so you'll need to prepare by braiding up the first third of the necklace at home before you come to class.  We'll give you the homework instructions when you register.  If you're short on time, the Five Marbles section could be used as a center piece of a necklace finished with chain.  In that case you would only need to braid one inch of beaded kumihimo before coming to class.

This April we're teaching a different beginner level marudai class each Saturday.  If you sign up for all five classes, the price goes down to just $30 per class.

Essential Kumihimo
Saturday, April 8th
3:30 - 6:30 PM
$30

Learn all the tips, tricks, and techniques from experienced Kumihimo instructors. You can make your own beautiful beaded necklace!
Kumihimo is the Japanese art of braiding. Originally used to braid lacing for the Samurais' armor, today it is a popular jewelry making technique. WARNING: KUMIHIMO IS VERY ADDICTIVE. It's fast, easy, and fun!

In the "Essential Kumihimo" class you'll learn how to do a round spiral braid using 8 cords with beads. Some students will finish the project in class and others will finish at home, but everyone will learn the essential finishing technique of binding off. Proper gluing technique will be demonstrated.

This class is designed with the beginner in mind. No previous kumihimo experience is required; however, previous experience with general arts & crafts is very helpful and increases the likelihood that you'll finish the necklace in class.
