In the Headlines:

Transportation Update

As we embark on the new school year, we would like to bring your attention to a challenge that many districts are currently facing: a shortage of school bus drivers. This shortage may affect pickup and drop off times for our studentsWe understand that delays can be frustrating, but we kindly ask for your patience and understanding as we adjust to the new year.

We are actively taking steps to address this situation, including recruiting and training new drivers, adjusting routes, and exploring alternative transportation solutions.

Should you be or know of anyone who would be interested in driving for Quaker Valley and Monark Transportation, please visit www.qvsd.org/jobs for more information and to apply.

Communications Update

Monday Memos have now returned in their traditional format. Items to add to the Monday Memo can be sent to memom@qvsd.org for review and/or additional instructions.

Beginning this fall, we are partnering with Peachjar. Peachjar’s platform streamlines school-to-home communication by distributing valuable school and community resources directly to families as digital flyers.

Peachjar does not replace the Monday Memo, as it is used exclusively for the distribution of district-approved flyers. Peachjar buttons will be included in the Monday Memo.

All parents and guardians with an email address in PowerSchool will also automatically begin receiving these flyers via email on Thursday afternoons.

Peachjar buttons have been placed on each school's home page. Parents and guardians will be able to click on this button any time they want to see what flyers are available at that school and will be able to sign up for events and programs directly from included flyer buttons.

6th Grade and Elementary Cross Country for Quaker Valley Students (2023)

In 2021, Ryan Kelly, Head Coach for the Quaker Valley High School Cross Country team, resumed a cross country program for Quaker Valley Middle School students in 6th grade and Quaker Valley elementary students in grades 3-5. This cross country program is continuing this year as the attached letter includes all relevant information. This cross country program operates outside the school district as interscholastic athletics are only offered to 7th through 12 graders. However, Coach Kelly wanted to provide our younger cross country runners with practices and the opportunity to run in two invitationals against other 6th-grade and elementary students throughout Western Pennsylvania. Further details are listed in the attached letter and if you are interested in joining our cross country program for the Fall 2023 season, please reach out to Coach Kelly via email at kellyr@qvsd.org thank you for your interest. Click here to access the attached letter.
