VioStor VS-2008L / VS-2004L

QNAP Security, a leading manufacturer of Linux-embedded, standalone Network Video Recorder (NVR) solutions today announced its first new consumer-ready standalone video surveillance recording system, the two-drive VioStor VS-2008L (8 channels) and VS-2004L (4 channels).

The new models not only reduce the acquisition costs for customers, but also deliver high performance for recording from up to 4-8 video cameras simultaneously. Surveillance video is recorded on the internal hard drives (up to 4TB, sold separately) and the VioStor unit is attached to an existing network and can be configured and monitored from any PC on the network.

The VioStor NVR is ideal for secure surveillance of different locations such as home, small offices, convenience stores, retail and healthcare outlets, and more.

The new VioStor models provide a user-friendly experience with 6 simplified steps for any users to start protecting their properties. End users can easily create their own home or office security system by simply attaching IP video cameras in areas that need to be monitored and adding a VioStor video surveillance recording system. The built-in RAID 1 capability of the VioStor VS-2008L/2004L

Dream Mall, rated by "Forbes Traveler" as Asia's top Shopping Mall selects QNAP
Through QNAP's network surveillance capability, the shopping paradise -Dream Mall- with the size of two football fields can now look forward to a future filled with flexibility and scalability. In addition, saved budget in construction funds allow the Group to provide customers a comfortable and secure environment while improving instant customer service.

Challenge
Selected by Forbes Traveler as one of the top ten shopping malls in Asia, Dream Mall covers the size of two American football fields including 800 international brands, movie theatres, amusement parks and 4,500 parking spaces. The Mall needs a monitoring system that can provide stable and powerful back-end management with flexibility for future expansion in both NVR and NAS. Try to imagine, if such a large shopping center was built with traditional CCTV surveillance system, the required length of coaxial cable would be about 87 San Francisco bridges long!

Solution
Dream Mall's security system placed a total of 600 Panasonic IP and Analogue cameras. Out of which 10% are megapixel cameras and 90% are cameras in VGA resolution to reduce the higher cost for some megapixel monitoring usage. These are installed in distinctive locations such as the main entrance, outdoor parking area, children's playground, and staircases.
