New Dolby Headquarters

On September 30, 2015, the CMCBD joined Mayor Ed Lee at Dolby Laborat orie s to unveil the  new Central Market headquarters at 1275 Market Street. T he move served as an exclamation point to a quarter of growth.  Read more about the innovative headquarters on  Fast Company .

Safer Market Street Plan

In August, the Safer Market Street Plan took effect instituting  turn restrictions and limiting vehicle access along Market Street. Read  more about it on Streets Blog SF , SF  Gate , and Hoodline .
ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT NEWS 

1075 Market Street

In September, Levy Design Partners released the latest rendering for the proposed building at 1075 Market Street, home of the former Market Street Cinema. The proposed project will hold 90 residential units and 9,000 square feet of commercial ground floor space. Read more on Socket Site.





950-974 Market Street

In late July, Group i released the latest renderings for its project, for a   230 room hotel and 250 condominiums at the intersection of Turk and Market. Read about the project on Hoodline and Curbed SF .







5M Project

EVENTS

2 Blocks of Art

The 5th annual 2 Blocks of Art, organized by CMCBD 
in partnership with  Urban Solutions and sponsored by the SOMA Stabilization Fund, turned two blocks of 6th Street from Market to Howard into a diversely curated art extravaganza. Area businesses, sidewalks and even garages turned into galleries, boutiques and interactive spaces for people of all ages to view and purchase original works of art. Central Market Showcase
 
Towards the end of September, Central Market Showcase brought back various art installations from last quarter's Market Street Prototyping Festival. The installations were set along Market Street, between 6th and 7th Streets, to spark community engagement and interaction. The project also launched two Living Innovation Zones (LIZ's) with four consecutive weeks of scheduled programming.
 


 





Light Up Central Market

Just as the quarter drew to a close, community members gathered at The Hall for the illumination ceremony of "Light up Central Market," a project that cast light on six site-specific installa tions in Central Market. The installations included a kinetic seating installation, four murals and a building facade. Read more about the project on the Kenneth Rainin Foundation blog .
