In the wake of recent events in which racially motivated hatred and bigotry have been on full display, many funders and leaders in the public sector have been wondering how to fight this latest wave of racist and white supremacist activity. When Funders for LGBTQ Issues was founded in 1982, less than $250,000 was awarded to LGBTQ issues annually. In 2015 foundations and corporations awarded more than $160 million to support LGBTQ communities. The Pride in Philanthropy Awards will celebrate and acknowledge the philanthropic leadership that has brought LGBTQ funding to this moment.

Hispanics in Philanthropy announced Ana Marie Argilagos as the organization's president. Ana Marie will succeed Diana Campoamor, HIP's current president, on January 1, 2018.

Movement Advancement Project released an updated report examining the serious harms of practicing conversion therapy on minors. 27% of LGBT people now live in a state or district that bans conversion therapy, but almost three-quarters of LGBT people lack these protections.

Human Rights Watch and InterACT produced a report on medical practices in the United States that can inflict irreversible harm on intersex children including video features in a timeline of intersex activism.

Borealis Philanthropy recently announced a Request for Proposals (RFP) for the Fund for Trans Generations' (FTG) next round of grantmaking. The Other Foundation is accepting applications for grants from any individual or organization in thirteen eligible southern African countries to support work that focuses on combating discrimination, social exclusion, and violence against lesbian women and transgender people. Eligible countries include Angola, Botswana, Lesotho, Madagascar, Malawi, Mauritius, Mozambique, Namibia, Seychelles, South Africa, Swaziland, Zambia, and Zimbabwe. Southern Equality Fund announced a new round of grants to support grassroots efforts to get folks registered to vote and to the polls. #QueertheVote grants will award grants of up to $500 and anyone in North Carolina who receives a grant is eligible to receive training from Democracy NC.
