  • Funders for LGBTQ IssuesThe Chicago Community Trust, and Forefront joined to host a funder briefing on LGBTQ philanthropy in Chicago and the Midwest in early October, bringing together over 30 Chicago area funders to learn about the current state of LGBTQ funding in the region and imagine opportunities for greater impact. It was a wonderful preview of what’s to come at Funding Forward 2020 in Chicago!
 
 
  • Members of our team joined the AAPIP New York Chapter at a festive event at the Ford Foundation to welcome Patricia Eng as the President and CEO of AAPIP. Welcome, Patricia!

  • Andrew Wallace, Research and Communications Officer attended the FCAA 2019 Summit, a conference for grantmakers interested in HIV/AIDS and social justice-related philanthropy. This year FCAA recognized members and partners that support the organization's research projects, and Funders for LGBTQ Issues was recognized as the "best data collection partner!" Third Wave and UHAI were also recognized.

RESEARCH, RESOURCES, AND UPDATES

This recent analysis from the Center for American Progress demonstrates the importance of separating out data by race and ethnicity when studying the experiences of bi+ people.

This CAP research highlights the serious risks faced by LGBTQ DACA recipients, based on national survey.

PRRI's data finds that while most Americans falsely believe that there are federal nondiscrimination protections in place for LGBT Americans, a majority of Americans also show broad support for protections.

The Global Philanthropy Project (GPP), American Jewish World Service (AJWS), Astraea Lesbian Foundation for Justice (Astraea) and Global Action for Trans Equality (GATE) launch two new briefs on the state of funding for trans and intersex communities.

A new report from the Movement Advancement Project (MAP) examines the unique challenges of LGBT people of color in rural America.


RECENT GRANTS AWARDED

Astraea Lesbian Foundation for Justice announces the awardees of the 2nd Acey Social Justice Feminist Award.

The Laughing Gull Foundation (LGF) announces the approval of grants to be awarded in 2019 to twenty-nine organizations supporting the LGBTQ community in the U.S. South.

Meet this year’s 26 MacArthur Fellows.

The $2 million award to Spellman College will support the first-ever chair of its kind and will be named after celebrated poet and civil rights activist Audre Lorde.

Recent grant from the Gay Community Endowment Fund helped launch a new clinic for transgender youth.

Eight nonprofit organizations serving LGBTQ Rhode Islanders will share $53k in grants through the Equity Action Fund at the RI Foundation.
