In November, Funders for LGBTQ Issues in partnership with ABFE hosted Supporting LGBTQ Black Communities: Philanthropy’s Role in Intersectional Movements, a webinar building off findings from recent research from Funders for LGBTQ Issues. The webinar offered an overview of the current state of philanthropic support for LGBTQ Black communities and considered philanthropy’s role in the past, present, and future of LGBTQ Black movements.
-
Also in November, we hosted a Post-election Debrief & Community Space, a virtual call for members and partners to debrief the outcome of the election, share ideas and resources to sustain long-term movements for LGBTQ and BIPOC liberation, and highlight ways Funders for LGBTQ Issues and our member community can support your work and wellbeing.
-
Finally, The Chinook Fund became the 43rd GUTC Pledge signatory, thank you for your commitment to trans, GNC, and nonbinary communities!
-
Just this week we joined FCAA, Funders for Reproductive Equity, and the Women’s Funding Network for a funder briefing to address the resistance to recognizing transgender women as women and how that dynamic plays out in philanthropic settings.

RESEARCH, RESOURCES, AND UPDATES
Published annually by the Movement Advancement Project (MAP), this report provides a comprehensive and standardized look at fiscal year 2019 for 39 major LGBTQI advocacy organizations.
This infographic—distilled from FCAA's most recent annual resource tracking report, Philanthropic Support to Address HIV/AIDS in 2018—takes a closer look at HIV philanthropy focused on transgender communities, including an analysis of support to trans-led organizations.
FFJ, previously a project of Neighborhood Funders Group, is a national network and organizing platform for grantmakers, donor networks, and funder affinity groups to mobilize resources to grassroots organizing led by and for folks of color.
The new report from MAP illustrates that LGBTQ households are more likely than non-LGBTQ households to experience job losses, serious financial problems, issues accessing healthcare, and increased challenges navigating at-home learning for their children as a result of the pandemic. Findings from the research were recently featured in this USA Today article.
