MARCH 2020
Dear Community Partners and Friends,

This is an incredibly difficult time for our community. We are all struggling to move work forward and make sense of these current conditions. Like many of you, our team at Funders for LGBTQ Issues is adapting to working remotely and rethinking how we can best support our members through this crisis. Now as always, we are committed to supporting this powerful network of funders who will be called upon to support LGBTQ communities in ways even more critical than before.

In this issue of QNotes, you will find a new COVID-19 LGBTQ funding resource page, which we will be frequently updating to share timely information and guidance with funders and movement leaders alike. You will also find information about three webinars planned for this week to bring you timely content that we had originally planned to offer in person at Funding Forward. This series will begin with a particularly important conversation on the role of queer philanthropy in a time of COVID-19 .

Thank you all for your resilience in these challenging times.

In solidarity,
Ben Francisco Maulbeck
President
Funders for LGBTQ Issues
We created a resource hub to share timely information for funders seeking to address the unique needs of LGBTQ communities in the COVID-19 pandemic. We will be updating it frequently as the situation evolves. Click here to read more.

We are moving forward with our search for the next President of Funders for LGBTQ Issues and have released a leadership profile. Click here to read more and share with your networks!
After making the difficult but necessary decision not move forward with our annual gathering of grantmakers this week in Chicago, we adapted key content to present timely content via webinar. Our virtual Funding Forward will kick off with a plenary webinar of trailblazing LGBTQ movement leaders and funders working to adapt and respond quickly to our communities’ needs in the time of COVID-19. Click here to read more or register at the links below.

  • Earlier this month, Funders for LGBTQ Issues' president Ben Francisco Maulbeck moderated the closing plenary from #GCIR2020 National Convening. Speakers discussed how COVID-19 is affecting their communities, their organizations, the 2020 census, and the upcoming election, and how they are responding in real-time.

  • Lyle Matthew Kan, Vice President of Research and Communications and Andrew Wallace, Director of Research and Communications at Funders for LGBTQ Issues attended the PolicyWorks Institute and Foundations on the Hill. Lyle joined Claudia Y.W. Herrold of Philanthropy Ohio and Maggie Gunther Osborn of United Philanthropy Forum in a Public Comments Workshop to share how we are mobilizing our members to take speak out on critical policy proposals. Lyle and Andrew also met with a number of members and legislators in the DC area.
And these are just the highlights! Stay tuned for more updates from our network in action in the next edition of Q Notes!
