Save the Date: LGBTQ Ohio Funders Learning Tour
Building on the momentum of the Cleveland Foundation's sponsorship of the Gay Games, Funders for LGBTQ Issues invites you to a learning tour on LGBTQ issues in Ohio. This learning tour will foster cross-learning between national LGBTQ funders and local Ohio-based funders, providing a vehicle for engaging and educating new Ohio-based funders around LGBTQ issues while allowing national funders to learn in depth about the needs and opportunities in a specific state. Funding Across Networks to Build Health Equity in the US
The challenges of overcoming health disparities and building true health equity in the US are too big a challenge for any funder, or even any funders' network to face alone.  Join Grantmakers in Health (GIH), Funders Network on Population, Reproductive Health and Rights (Funders Network), Funders for LGTBQ Issues, and Funders Concerned About AIDS (FCAA) for a day-long meeting on health equity.  Registration opens in September.  If you have questions, please contact Horacio Oliveira at horacio@fcaaids.org.

Requests for Proposals
  • The Out in the South Fund has released its first request for proposals from LGBTQ-focused funds based in the U.S. South.  As part of Funders for LGBTQ Issues' ongoing efforts to increase sustainable grantmaking for Southern LGBTQ communities, the Out in the South Fund is a collaborative fund that will provide matching dollars and planning grants for LGBTQ-focused community funds in the South.  Through this partnership, local funds will then be able to provide funding to help build the capacity of community-based organizations working to improve the lives of LGBTQ Southerners through advocacy,  culture change efforts and effective service provision.  The deadline for submissions is June 1st.  For more information and to submit an application, please click here.  
  • The American Psychological Foundation has announced its 2016 Drs. Rosalee G. And Raymond A. Weiss Research and Program Innovation Grant, which supports innovative research, education, and intervention efforts that advance psychological knowledge and application in understanding the connection between behavior and health; reducing stigma and prejudice; understanding and preventing all forms of violence; and addressing long-term psychological needs in the aftermath of disaster. The deadline for application is September 15th.  For more information and to apply,  click here.
  • The American Psychological Foundation has announced its David H. and Beverly A. Barlow Grant that supports innovative basic and clinical research on anxiety and anxiety related disorders conducted by graduate students and early career researchers. The deadline for application is September 15th.  For more information and to apply,  click here.
  • The American Psychological Foundation has announced its 2017 Roy Scrivner Memorial Research Grant, which seeks to encourage the study of LGBT family psychology and therapy through its support of promising young investigators whose graduate research is oriented toward issues in this general area.  Preference is given to advanced students who have demonstrated their commitment to this area through their dissertation research plans. The deadline for application is November 1st.  For more information and to apply,  click here.
  • The American Psychological Foundation has announced its Division 42 Next Generation Fund Practice Innovation Grants that provides two $2,000 grants for unpublished manuscripts on clinical, practical or research innovations that address evolving standards, practices and methods in psychological practice, to be presented at the APA convention. The deadline for application is September 30th, 2017.  For more information and to apply,  click here.
  • Groundswell Fund has launched a Rapid Response Fund, a funding vehicle dedicated to moving resources quickly and strategically for unforeseen needs and opportunities. There will be no deadline or formal grant cycle for Rapid Response Fund grants. Grant requests may range from $5,000 -$30,000. Applications will be considered on a rolling basis as they are submitted.  For more information about the 2016 grants and to apply,  download the RFP here.
  • Pride Foundation has announced its community grants program that invests in organizations, projects, programs, innovative ideas, and/or strategies that align with our priorities-expanding opportunities and advancing full equality for LGBTQ communities in the Northwest. The deadline for application is July 1st.  For more information and to apply,  click here.
  • The Gene and John Athletic Fund of StonewallCommunity Foundation awards scholarships to LGBTQ individuals whose athletic achievements demonstrate what is possible when one is courageous and strives hard in pursuit of their dreams. Ranging from $2,500 to $5,000, these scholarships lend critical financial support to athletes, recognize them as community leaders, and celebrate their efforts to bring visibility to LGBTQ people in sports. The deadline for application is June 8th.  For more information and to download the application,   click here.
  • The Levin-Goffe Scholarship for LGBTQI Immigrants was established to help support undocumented immigrants pursuing higher education in New York City who also identify as lesbian, gay, bisexual, queer, or intersex (LGBTQI).  The scholarship will help offset some of the financial burdens immigrant students may face, while investing in the future of the LGBTQI community. The deadline for application is June 22nd. For more information and to download the application,  click here.
  • The New York Ramblers Scholarship for Student Athletes was created to support student athletes who self-identify as either lesbian, gay, bisexual, queer, or intersex (LGBTQI), or are demonstrated and committed allies.  Awardees will receive a one-time scholarship, paid directly to their college, to cover tuition and fees.  Up to two scholarships of $2,500 each will be awarded in Summer 2016. The deadline for application is July 12th. For more information and to download the application,  click here.
  • ViiV Healthcare is pleased to announce a new funding opportunity - Organizing and Engagement Grants to Boost Empowerment and Nurture Networks - the first of its ACCELERATE! Initiative. ACCELERATE! is a four-year, $10 million commitment to fund innovative and promising projects that support the health and well-being of Black gay, bisexual, and other men who have sex with men in two cities hardest hit by HIV - Baltimore, Maryland, and Jackson, Mississippi.  For more information and to apply,  click here.
