PG Families:
Prairie Grove is updating our lunch point-of-sale systems this year! Starting Tuesday, October 11th, students will no longer use "tickets" and currency to pay for lunch but instead will utilize our new point-of-sale system called PushCoin.
Beginning on Tuesday, October 11th, when a student goes to pay for their lunch they will simply press their finger on a TouchID scanner which will recognize the student and charge their account instantly and securely. This will remove the need for tickets, cards, currency, or the need to remember (or forget) a "special number or code". All students will need is their finger! As an alternative, children of parents that decline to participate in the TouchID option will be looked up by name each time they purchase from the cafeteria.
In order to prepare the system for this change our students will "save" their finger to the system during our "Finger-Scan" event on Thursday, October 6th. Grade levels will be asked to come to the scanning station in order to add students to the system.
TouchID is a popular choice because of its ease of use, security, and accuracy. The system only stores abbreviated (aka template) data and does not transmit or store pictures of a finger. For example, law enforcement agencies would not be able to use the PushCoin TouchID information as it's not detailed enough for purposes of identification outside a single building. In addition, the TouchID data is deleted 120 days since last use, so if a student stops using this feature, stored information is automatically removed. Information for graduating or withdrawn students is deleted immediately
If a parent has decided they do NOT want their child to take part in this event they have the option to OPT-OUT via the online form (link below).
PG Families should expect to receive an email directly from PushCoin on
Friday, September 30th. The email message will contain a PushCoin Registration Code which will allow families to sign up with PushCoin and register their account with their children.
Once PG families receive their PushCoin email on
Friday, September 30th they should proceed to setup their account with
PushCoin ASAP before our PushCoin "Go-Live" date on
Tuesday, October 11th!
