I am an American Military Child. I am a Warrior in my own right and a member of a Military Family. I serve with my Military Parent, who serves the people of the United States. I will always place the mission first: To stand beside, behind and with my Family. I will never accept defeat. I will never quit. I will not leave a fellow military-brat hurting. I will stand beside them. I am disciplined, but young; physically and mentally tough, but vulnerable. I will ask for help when I need it! I am adaptable and I am resilient. I stand ready to say “Good-bye,” whisper “I miss You” and shout “Welcome Home." I am a representative of the American Military Family and the American way of life. I am an American Military Child.

MAY 2024

This will be the final issue of the Purple Star Bulletin for the 2023-24 school year. Through our Purple Star Project students, Veterans Day Mass and reception, Wreaths Across America sponsorship, Adopt-a-Soldier care packages, and Military Child Appreciation Week, we are appreciative of your support of the military-connected families in our school community! Many of our students, teachers, and staff have immediate or extended family members who are or will be deploying in the next few weeks. Please continue to keep them in your prayers. Pray for their safety, strength, and patience to endure the challenges of the deployment.

Yellow Ribbon. As you entered the front doors of St. Louis this year you probably noticed a tree adorned with a yellow ribbon. A yellow ribbon tied on a tree serves as a symbol of military and home front support for American service members. Our Purple Star Project students made this one of their first missions of the year. They wanted to bring an awareness to the fact that we still have service members deployed and we remember them each day when we see the yellow ribbon.

Adopt-a-Soldier. In a special effort to connect with those deployed, we were honored to adopt several St. Louis-connected soldiers. As a school and parish community, we have kept them in our daily prayers, sent Christmas packages, Valentine’s Day packages, and treats this spring along with notes of gratitude and encouragement. Thank you to all our St. Louis families for assisting us in our efforts. Your donations made this mission possible!

Wreaths Across America. St. Louis has the unique privilege to be near Arlington National Cemetery. As a school and parish community we had the honor to participate in Wreaths Across America through the sponsorship of nearly 300 wreaths!

We encourage you to mark your calendar for December 14, 2024 to participate in Wreaths Across America at Arlington National Cemetery. It is a very beautiful, moving, and meaningful morning.

Purple Star Project

Our Purple Star Project students did a tremendous job this year representing every branch of our armed services. They supported the efforts and mission of the group, which was to bring an overall awareness to the student body that military-connected students enrich our lives in so many ways. What a gift to have these students’ examples and experiences! Military students, like dandelions, move to wherever the breeze may blow them. Let us always know of their resilience, service, and sacrifices as they start over again every 2-3 years.
