FROM THE P
Ever thought of joining Immac’s School Council?
Immac is looking to add members to its school council. No previous experience required! Council members meet online once a month and council meetings typically last 30 minutes. Council member responsibilities include bringing your God-given gift of common sense to each meeting, preparing a report for each meeting, discussing agenda items as appropriate, and planning for the sustainability of the school community. Council members rarely have more than 15 minutes of work outside of the monthly Council meeting. Being a Council member fully meets your parent participation hours annually.
Things to know:
· Council members are elected for 3-year terms.
· Council members must belong to a Catholic parish.
· Council members do not need to have children attend the school.
At present Immac is looking to add Council members to the following positions:
· Chair (Runs the meetings-templates provided)
· Secretary (records the minutes and emails copies to Council members-templates provided!)
· Council/PSG Liaison (shares relevant information from Council meetings with PSG members during PSG meetings or via email)
· Education (can be involved in HR, serious discipline issues)
All council members are involved in creating and maintaining policy, reviewing expenditures, and providing guidance that is in the best interest of the school.
Want more information but not sure you want to make the commitment? No worries! Come see Mr. Plaxton for more info. I promise that just because you made an inquiry, I won’t add your name to a secret list of potential candidates. I also promise that I won’t harass you night and day until you break down, sobbing, surrendering to my relentless emails begging you to join Council. I promise. (NOTE: I have chocolate in my office. You could just swing by, take some chocolate, and casually ask a Council related question).
-Mr. Plaxton

FRIDAY'S MOMENTS IN TIME
There were jokes about VHS and cassette tapes, as well as appearances by “Donald Trump” and “Joe Biden” last Friday night as the Immaculata class of 2024 impressed parents, teachers, their peers, as well as younger students with their amazing talents and gifts. From Monty Python to the Bee Gees, the audience was thoroughly entertained by the enthusiasm and dance moves put on by the grade 12 students! The bartenders, the concession, and the silent auctions stand were busy, and the raffle for the Wall of Wine and Spirits and the WestJet tickets were in demand. The MCs (Bryce Ramon, Fabiana Diaz, Katie White, and Connor de Souza) led the way, looking convincingly confused over how people used to play the old cassette tapes and film reels, and Gabriel Dantes with help from grade 11 protégé, Sebastian Griffin kept the music going. Finally, who could forget Katie White and Sarah Brodeur’s interview video, capturing moments of their classmates (and some staff) favourite memories.
Of course, none of this would have happened if it were not for the help of SEVERAL individuals. On behalf of the grads, I would like to thank the Immaculata community for all their support and commitment to our school. As well, thanks to Kasandra Martel, Antoinetta Mancuso, Mary de Souza, Dana Forrest, and Shelly Brodeur for being on the grad show planning committee and helping create the “Moments in Time” experience. A HUGE thank you to Grant Richard for stage and light set up. A shout out must go to Katie White and Sarah Brodeur for their excellent choreography and time spent at school lunch hours to work with the grads on their opening and closing dance numbers. Furthermore, several grade 11 parents were instrumental in selling admission, concession and drink tickets, and WestJet raffle tickets, running back and forth to replenish the concession, assisting backstage, running the wine wall, as well as helping in the set up and cleanup. Finally, thank you Mrs. Vos for running the wine bar with student alumni, Jacob Griffin!

CHINESE NEW YEAR
Thanks to the Chinese International Students for sharing with us the celebration of the Chinese New Year 2024, with decorations, typical treats, and teaching students how to write their name in Chinese, it was a huge success and everyone at Immac enjoyed it a lot.

FUTURE MUSTANGS!
On Tuesday Feb 6, Immac welcomed about 50 grade 7 students from St. Joe's, OLOL, and other schools. Our Articulation Day has now become tradition with future Mustangs who get to have a semi-high school experience by spending a day at Immac. Hosted by the grade 9s, the 7s travelled through 5 classes that included time in the Learning Commons, Drama, PE, Science, and Art. Top it off with a pizza lunch and we can confidently say it was a good day!

FROM INTERIOR HEALTH
BC Children's Hospital’s new centre for knowledge is inviting any child or youth 18 years of age or younger and/or their parents or family caregivers to complete this 5 to 10 minute survey. We would like to better support your family by making health information that is easy to find and understand. The purpose of this survey is to collect information to plan a new program for creating and sharing health information that partners with children, youth and family caregivers from the beginning stages.
You may also choose to enter a draw for a $100 Indigo gift card.

To seek the Kingdom of heaven, When I don’t know how, Lord, help me to see the heavenly glory Around me, here and now. To be a faithful follower, When I feel far, far behind, Lord, please grant me the grace to listen To Your Word with open mind. To notice people as You did, When I would rather pass them by, Lord, increase in me the generosity To put my own desires aside. To be a sign of Your love, For I have Your love to give, Lord, may I reconcile with others readily, Following Your example of how to live. Amen.
