Whitman-Hanson Graduation
Congratulations to the Class of 2022. No matter our journey, it is important to see ourselves for who we are and what we can be. No matter our place, it is important to revisit where we have come from and show others the possibilities that exist.
Today was that. The Whitman-Hanson Regional High School Class of 2022 visited all the schools in the district from preschool to middle amid cheers, chants, screams, high fives, and tears. Memories are just that and only alive for as long as you keep them.

Historical Tidbit:

Whitman's first Town Historian

The first town historian of Whitman was Miss Leila Gurney. She was authorized by the town Selectmen to write a history of the town of Whitman. Unfortunately she passed away before she could complete it. Miss Gurney, who taught at the Reed School, would be proud to know that her student, Russell H. Gardner, took on the task of writing the history of Whitman. Miss Gurney passed away in 1945.

Purchasing Power
“This life is yours. Take the power to choose what you want to do and do it well. Take the power to love what you want in life and love it honestly. Take the power to walk in the forest and be a part of nature. Take the power to control your own life. No one else can do it for you.”
~ Susan Polis Schutz

The most power we have to change our lives and help ourselves, the environment, and society is close to home. It is within our families and our community.

Think about our purchasing power.

Who are we supporting with our dollar? Why am I purchasing this product? What kind of environmental damage was done by making this shirt, those pants? Am I damaging my health by eating this food?

To re-think our purchasing decisions is to take control of our lives.

For more on using the power of spending to help yourself, society & the environment while achieving Financial Independence, check out: Your Money or Your Life . I followed this book, step by step, about 25 years ago, and it had a profound effect on my decision making. This led to the creation of your BuzzAround. I linked to the Good Reads page on it. If you decide to read it, for goodness sake, go to an independent bookseller or local library, NOT Amazon!
Leading a thoughtful lifestyle brings us all to a brighter future. Enjoy your week ~ Jacquie
