Pumpkins Go In The Green Cart!

After you've gutted, carved, smashed, worn, and enjoyed your pumpkins this season, remember to put them in the green cart! They are a valuable resource that will later become compost - going right back to the soil.

Be sure your pumpkin is unpainted before giving it a second life in the green cart!

Big Items? No Big Deal!

DON'T DUMP! If you, or someone you know, need to dispose of large items that don't fit into the curbside carts, your waste hauler can help with that! In the Salinas Valley, your waste hauler is either WM (formerly Waste Management), Tri-Cities Disposal & Recycling, or Republic Services of Salinas. Give them a call and schedule your bulky item pickup! Most of these services are offered for FREE. Learn more about your eligibility for a free additional pickup by clicking the link below.

What's that number on my plastic container?

These are called resin codes, which refers to the type of plastic the item is made from. These are examples of plastic items and their corresponding resin codes. In Monterey County, you can recycle plastics #1, #2, and #5 curbside. All other plastic types are not accepted in the blue cart.

As always, be sure your recyclables are EMPTY, CLEAN, DRY, & LOOSE. Do not bag your recyclables (plastic bags and film are not recyclable curbside).

Thank you for recycling!
