The Marina Coast Water District will present its proposed new water and sewer rates at the Rate Update Workshop on Wednesday, April 17 at 7:00 PM at Carpenters Union Hall. The new rates are designed to provide revenue needed to speed the pace of investment in aging water and sewer pipelines, pumps, reservoirs, and other facilities.

In the face of constantly rising operational and administrative costs, steps have been taken to increase efficiency and lower costs before considering rate changes. Examples of ongoing action to keep costs down include:

  • District obtained $9.9 million in grants in the last 5 years.

  • Staff completing large facility projects in-house, saving time and money from outsourcing.

  • Staff optimizing water pump station operations to ensure the District does most pumping during the lowest cost PG&E hours.

  • Not filling an HR position and absorbing that work in other areas, lowering labor costs.

Everyone is welcome to attend the Rate Update Workshop. See link below about attending the workshop via zoom, phone, or in person.
