Today, Brooklyn-based psych rock quintet ZEBEDEE share the Jeremy Bastard remix of their new single "For God's Sake" out now. The group's sophomore studio album Going Nowhere Fast is due out August 2 and available for pre-order now. The band is set to play live across New York City this Summer including at Crown Hill Theatre on July 7 supporting Mark Kelly, Kirk Douglas of the Roots and members of Living Color. Get tickets here.

The "For God's Sake" (Jeremy Bastard Remix) out today is a new take on the recent single by ZEBEDEE. Lead guitarist and vocalist Zebedee Row is thrilled to get to work with Bastard on the reworked version of the latest single. Row says on the new, cutting version, "I've wanted to work with Jeremy Bastard for a while. I catch his sets around NYC all the time, and I'm a big fan of his band Autodrone. I really let him do his "industrial thing" to create something wild and completely different. I hope the kids appreciate it as much as I do." The original track nostalgically recalls the freedom and innocence of growing up, in this case for Row, in the Western suburbs of Melbourne, Australia. The remix takes a dark wave spin that gives the song a completely different energy that's entirely its own.

Going Nowhere Fast, the forthcoming sophomore project by ZEBEDEE, is an ode to the band's love of neo-psych and desert rock sounds. Fuzzy guitar licks, glittering synths and post-punk drums merge to create a compelling, robust sound that is all their own. The songs were written by Row, and his wife and band's guitarist Kelsey Van Mook who are able to channel their love and mutual understanding into their music. It was produced by GRAMMY award winning engineer Daniel Avila and recorded, mixed and mastered in Flux Recording Studios in Manhattan's Lower East Side.

Throughout the album, Row was able to funnel his frustrations about the state of the world into the powerful instrumentation and is able to carry this fervor into the lively live shows. The ten song collection is a commentary on the world today and the human condition–what it means to navigate the world, engage with societal issues and not get lost in a spiral of despair. Crafting the project in the midst of COVID caused the band to reflect and deliberately think about their work and goals. Row says when recording, "I was clearly pretty pissed off about the state of this country and all its flaws. But considering I'm not born here but choose to live in this big beautiful dumpster fire of a country, I thought that gave me an interesting perspective to comment on it. The lyrics are often about the sad, desperate, self-obsessed reality we live in, and the defense mechanisms we use to cope with it."

ZEBEDEE is made up of an eclectic bunch of musicians hailing from across the globe, including Australia, Mexico, Canada and the U.S. The group, led by Zebedee Row (vocals, guitar) and featuring Kelsey Van Mook (guitar), Victor De La Garza (drums/percussion), Michael Benham (bass) and Fred Seddon (guitar) has headlined stages across New York City since 2013. Now, the band prepares to enter an all-new phase filled with raw energy, masterful instrumentation and newfound creative freedom like never before, putting their synchronicity on full display.

ZEBEDEE Bio

ZEBEDEE’s love for neo-psych and desert rock sounds propel the band into something of their own, with a plethora of ruckus Sabbath riffs on the fingertips and psycho billy licks on the lips. These eclectic bunch of international musicians (AUS, MEX, CAN, USA) arrange a wide variety of sounds that always seem to blast off into space and crash land at home base.

The band draws its influences from pulsed up outfits such as The Cramps, Nick Cave, Captain Beefhardt, QOTSA, Fat White Family and the Viagra Boys.

Zeb Row’s psycho billyesk vocals drill the storytelling narrative right into your ears, down your spine and out your ass.

With fuzzed out boxy guitars inspired by desert rock pioneers such as QOTSA, its outrageous raw energy draws you in and spits you out like a sunflower seed. Jagged lead guitar licks from Zeb Row and Kelsey Van Mook rely on raw stank rather than overwhelming technical ability which holds a special charm. The songwriting partnership of husband and wife duo Row and Van Mook is timeless, true and tested, always working out material live before throwing it down in the studio. That living, loving, working relationship makes for a powerful combination that never settles for anything obsolete.

Produced by the Grammy award-winning engineer, Daniel Avila, has taken time away from his illustrious career to mix up a passion project as good as any other. He has given everything for this album and his involvement is as crucial as any band member.

Drum and bass are the roots of the band's core and hold the tracks down throughout every band release. The synchronicity of Michael Benham and Victor De la Garza is undeniable, a long trajectory playing together is evident on every track. Their jazz background lays the groundwork for the inexplicably bizarre twists and turns that Zebedee’s compositions tend to take. But you can also hear a lot of Punk, Funk, and Rock n Roll in the rhythm section’s pulse. From Black Flag, to Sabbath, to the Headhunters.

The most recent members, Fred Seddon and Don McKenzie have added new creative dimensions to the solid foundation set by the band. Freaky twisted guitar licks from Seddon have freed up all members to be more themselves on stage. And the hard hits from behind Don’s drums create a thunderous platform for the band to launch from.

Sit down, buckle up, break free and do it all over again. This is how the band tends to steer you throughout their most recent album. A never ending vortex of hard hits and psychedelic sound waves that may or may not cause nose bleeds. You’ve been warned. Aloha! Now Get Lost!
