A Prayer for Victims of Human Trafficking
Almighty and gracious God, you heard the cries of your people enslaved in Egypt, you empowered Moses and Aaron to speak boldly to Pharaoh on their behalf, and you delivered them from their bondage. We hold before you the lives and cries of all enslaved and trafficked people. Open our eyes to see each victim as a human being created in your image and according to your likeness. Embolden us to speak to the Pharaohs of the world your words of justice, human dignity, and freedom, not only with our lips but in our lives. Fill us with your holy anger at the many ways men, women, and children have become commodities for another’s profit. Give us the will and courage to work for justice, freedom, and dignity for all people. Enlarge our hearts to love one another as you have loved us. Bestow upon all victims of human trafficking your healing, peace, and hope that their lives may be made whole. Soften and turn the hearts of traffickers that there may be repentance and conversion in their lives. Strengthen the resolve of our nation, political leaders, and all who work for the well -being of others that we may establish equal protection of the law and equal opportunities for all people. All this we ask through our Lord Jesus Christ, who with you and the Holy Spirit lives and reigns, one God, now and forever. Amen.

Anti-Human Trafficking
Prayer service and speaker
TONIGHT!
It Happens Here, Too
Monday, Aug. 1, 7 pm ET / 6 pm CT
Anti-Human Trafficking Prayer Service and Speaker
It happens here, too. In our backyards, in our communities. Human Trafficking is the exploitation of humans for profit, often categorized by sex and labor trafficking. It occurs in every city and state across the United States.
What can we do about this complex problem in our communities? Let’s begin by increasing our awareness about the issue. See the global statistics according to the International Labor Organization at the bottom of this article.
Scary. But, there’s hope.
Join us as we offer prayers for survivors of human trafficking and listen to Cleveland Municipal Judge Marilyn B. Cassidy. Judge Cassidy will present her work on the Court’s special docket which assists survivors of trafficking to recover.

Discerning Missional Leadership Retreat
Mondays: Sept 12, 19, 26 and Oct 3, 2022
Participant registration: $350
About Online DML Retreats:
Self-knowledge and assessment of one’s own particular gifts for leadership are immensely important for deciding whether or not you are called to start a New Episcopal Community from scratch. Our in-person and virtual retreats are designed to give you feedback around the areas of competency found in the Episcopal Church Assessment Grid. They involve reflection on missional theology, conversations about the life of a church planter, neighborhood exegesis exercises, and an in-depth behavioral interview process. At the end of the month, you will be offered feedback and a recommendation of “it’s a fit,” “it’s not a fit,” or “it’s potentially a fit.” You can watch this video to learn more about the characteristics we are assessing for.
Registration Deadline: Aug 15, 2022

Register to attend meetings here.

Gun Violence Prevention
Guns to Gardens Action Circles
Every day children, people struggling with mental health, or those in conflict with one another are injured or killed because unwanted guns were available. We have safer communities when weapons are not within reach.
But gun manufacturers are holding the keys. In order to make money they have made guns essential and bought out our legislators. We have more guns than people in our country.
We can make our communities safer and begin to heal from the suffering gun violence has had on our communities, by holding ritual space, and chopping up unwanted guns, one by one by one.

Apply for appointment to interim bodies
The Rev. Michael Barlowe, secretary of the General Convention, invites Episcopalians from across the church to apply for appointment to the various interim bodies created by General Convention. These committees, commissions, and task forces carry out the work of The Episcopal Church between conventions.
Applications are due Aug. 12, and initial appointments will be made in September by Episcopal Church Presiding Bishop Michael Curry and President of the House of Deputies Julia Ayala Harris. The appointment process for task forces may continue through the fall as additional committees are formed.
“Serving on an interim body is a way for Episcopalians to participate in our church’s governance,” said Barlowe. “Most interim bodies are open to all members of The Episcopal Church, and we welcome and encourage applications of interest.”
During the two-year term leading up to the 81st General Convention in 2024, interim bodies will be focused on the priorities defined by General Convention. Joint Standing Commission appointments traditionally last two triennia (shortened by one year due to the delay in the 80th General Convention), while other appointments — including those to interim bodies — often last a single triennium.
The application form allows applicants to select areas of interest and identify relevant skills and experience.

Networking Conversations
Province V's work in the world is to "Connect. Network. Support." Networks exist for people to gather around areas of interest and share resources with each other. Sometimes, networks host webinars to share information and sometimes they develop new resources to support leaders in their local contexts.
There are a number of networks meeting regularly and several that are just getting organized. Most network meetings last about 60 minutes. See their webpages or email their contact for more information.

There was daily yoga, optional hiking/walks and plenty of time for reflection and respite. We gathered nightly at the campfire to share and listen to each other's stories and experiences. Attendees also got one on one time with their chaplain. It was a great success and the clergy spouses are looking forward to gathering together again for an end of summer picnic.
