Dear brothers and sisters in our Lord Jesus, part of the growing repentance remnant, cleansing as His Bride, getting ready for His soon return as our Bridegroom-----
Many viewers in the USA will tune in on Tuesday, September 10 to a debate between former President Trump and current Vice President Harris. The election is set for Tuesday, November 5. In the past many "christians" didn't register, didn't vote. Many pastors, not having repented/converted (Matthew 4:17,Acts 3:19), lack Holy Spirit fire and are quiet.
Our USA founders set up a republic, not a theocracy. However, Holy Spirit-filled, born again believers were key to the creation of the republic. They were moved by the Lord to use His Word, including His gift of repentance, to birth the USA with His Miracles. Eight different days of "humiliation, fasting and prayer" were held by the Continental Congress to appeal to Heaven for His Miracles to defeat the tyranny of kings and create a righteousness-seeking, Godly-based republic based on His Word and Wisdom.
John Adams had a profound faith in God's gift of repentance. In 1777, a year after the Declaration of Independence, at a time when the British were winning almost all battles, John Adams attended, at great risk, another gathering of the Founders in Philadelphia. Philadelphia was about to be invaded; Washington’s troops were losing battles; the far superior British troops seemed invincible.
One local delegate, Dr. Benjamin Rush, asked John Adams: “Sir, how can we possibly defeat the British given their skill and their size? Adams replied: “We will defeat them if we fear God and repent of our sins."
The year before, as a key member of the Continental Congress in Philadelphia, John Adams said on June 21, 1776: " Statesmen, my dear Sir, may plan and speculate for liberty, but it is Religion and Morality alone, which can establish the principles on which freedom can securely stand. The only foundation of a free Constitution is pure virtue, and if this cannot be inspired into our people in a greater measure, than they have it now, they may change their rulers and the forms of government, but they will not obtain a lasting liberty."
On April 26, 1777, John Adams wrote to his wife Abigail, “Posterity! You will never know how much it cost the present generation to preserve your freedom. I hope you will make a good use of it. If you do not, I shall repent in heaven that I ever took half the pains to preserve it.”
Patrick Henry, honoring the Liberty from the Blood of Christ (Luke 4:18, confirming Isaiah 61;1,2), said: " Give me Liberty or give me death." Many of the founders saw the destiny of the USA, going back to early evangelists in 1607 and 1620, to spread the LORD's Liberty by example to all nations of the world.
May I make a suggestion? Before watching the Presidential debate, read Proverbs 6: 17-19. Then see not only how those candidates measure up as a guide to voting Biblically, but also, use the occasion to see if you have even a residue of a residue of those things the Lord calls abominations. The verses read: " These six things the LORD hates, Yes seven are an abomination to Him: a proud look, a lying tongue, Hands that shed innocent blood, a heart that devises wicked plans, Feet that are swift in running to evil, a false witness who speak lies, and one who sows discord among brethren."
We ALL fall short of the glory of God. There's no condemnation in Christ. He calls us to be zealous to repent, to open the door of our hearts and minds, to become overcomers to sit with Him on His throne as He overcame and sat down with His Father on His throne.(Revelation 3:19-21).
May the Presidential debate serve not only to stir action towards His Righteousness in voting. May it also help me and you cleanse from any residue of a residue of the abominations now so prevalent in our public life. May our "leaders" remember history and call for a national day of "humiliation, fasting and prayer" !
John and Abigail Adams, now in the cloud of witnesses (Hebrews 12:1), serve as wonderful examples---bold for Christ--- to defeat the enemy in this spiritual battle.
