Shadle Park HS Students, Families, and Community,
As we close out another amazing week here at Shadle Park High School, I want to take a moment to highlight some of the incredible achievements and activities that have taken place.
First and foremost, I want to give a shoutout to our Boys Track and Field team for winning the 2A GSL Championship! This marks the first time in 23 years in which our Boys Track and Field Program was crowned GSL Champs! Congratulations to the athletes, coaches, and everyone who supported them along the way.
In addition to our athletic success, our students have been actively engaged in celebrating diversity and academic excellence through community graduation ceremonies. Last Saturday, we had students participate in both the African American Graduation Ceremony at Gonzaga University and this past Thursday we had students participate in the Lavender Graduation Ceremony at Eastern Washington University. These events are not only milestones in our students' lives but also celebrations of their identities and the amazing young adults they have become.
As we acknowledge the achievements of our students, let's also remember the importance of finishing the year strong. With graduation approaching for seniors and underclassmen striving for academic success, now is the time to lean into our systems of support. Whether it's seeking help from teachers before and after school, attending tutoring sessions in the HUB, communicating with teachers and counselors, or staying on top of assignments and exams, we encourage students to take advantage of the next three weeks to avoid the stress that can come from the 11th hour scramble.
Lastly, I'd like to remind families about our upcoming Family Advisory Group meeting this Wednesday night at 6:00 PM in the SPHS Career Center. We'll be discussing potential Cell Phone Policies for next year, our transition to 3A athletics, and gathering feedback on Connect Time. Your input is invaluable as we shape our plans for next school year and we hope to see many of you there!
Wishing you a warm and wonderful weekend,
Chris Dunn
Principal, Shadle Park HS

CLASS OF 2024 MISSION CRITICAL INFORMATION!
|
If you have not done so already, please visit the Shadle Park HS Graduation Page on our Website for information related to Senior Events and the Graduation Ceremony!
-
Graduation: Saturday June 8th, 2024 (2:30pm, The Podium 511. W. Dean Ave.)
-
Graduation Ceremony Expectations: Graduation is a time of celebration and excitement not only for you but for your family and friends. We know that in that excitement you might want to express yourself in a unique way but understand that expectations on behavior are strictly enforced. Students are expected to behave in a manner that reflects the culture of graduation and does not detract from the moment for other graduates, families, or the community. Non-compliance will result in your high school diploma being held pending an in-person meeting with you, your parent/guardians, Mr. Dunn, and the Superintendent.
-
Seniors NOT On Track for Graduation: Seniors who ended 3rd Quarter with a failing grade will be contacted over the next couple weeks, as well as a notice sent home. Make sure to connect with teachers directly for options on how to improve your grade before it's too late!
-
Dorian/Graduation Photos: Dorian has partnered with Waldo, a platform that utilizes face recognition, for senior graduations. Families are prompted to pre-register and include a photo of their senior. Then, 4-5 days after picture day, those families that pre-registered will receive a text or an email letting them know that their senior's photos are ready to view and order! We hope that this transition will allow for improved photo delivery time, quicker proofs and an easy ordering process. For more information, see the flyer below!

As the weather improves into next week, we wanted to remind you that Shadle Park HS is a closed campus and students are expected to remain on campus during the school day and during lunch (including avoiding going to their cars at lunch). Students who need to leave campus for an appointment must be called out by a parent/guardian and check out in the office. Students who would like to enjoy the sunshine during lunch may access the courtyard off of the commons between the Auditorium and the DECA store. Students accessing other programs (NewTech, On Track, Running Start, etc.) may leave at their scheduled times. Students who leave campus (without permission) during lunch or throughout the school day will face consequences. In advance, we appreciate families discussing and revisiting this expectation with their student(s).

BSU ONE LOVE TROPICAL LUAU DANCE
|
|
The BSU (Black Student Union) group at Shadle Park high school is planning a dance event for all students at Shadle and all is invited!!!
If you don’t already know the BSU, it’s a great and amazing thing where African- American students (and others) have a chance to connect with other people. We also take parts and roles like presidents, writers, speakers and such more! We plan things like events and meetings. We also talk about black history and the greats of it like the first black men or women to do this or that and what that person went through to get where they wanted to be. If it ever seems to interest you, try asking Mr. Alexander! Room A106.
The dance is an opportunity to dress formally and an opportunity to embrace the lively spirit of spring! You get to wear Hawaiian shirts, leis, and dresses with vibrant colors and there will be a photo booth! So come dance, have fun, and take some photos! There will be food and drinks available!
-
Date: Friday May 31st, 2024
-
Ticket Cost: $7
Look out for flyers for more information! Hope you can make it; it will be fun! Don’t miss out!
The Sankofa bird: the Sankofa bird is our BSU symbol which is also a African symbol which means:
