Shadle Park HS Students, Families, and Community,

As we enter the sixth full week of the semester, but we want to take a minute to emphasize the importance of school attendance and passing grades for ALL of our students.

Attending school regularly is the foundation upon which all other aspects of learning are built. Each day in the classroom provides opportunities for growth, learning, and skill development that cannot be replicated elsewhere. When students attend school consistently, they are more likely to stay engaged, grasp key concepts, and build strong relationships with teachers and peers. Additionally, good attendance habits instill self-discipline and responsibility, essential skills that will serve students well far beyond their time at Shadle Park.

Equally important are course grades. Earning passing grades not only reflects student understanding of the material but also opens doors to future opportunities and pathways beyond high school. A strong academic record is a valuable asset when navigating career and college decisions and is a testament to a student's dedication and commitment to their education. Remember that it's okay to seek help when you're facing challenges in your coursework. Our teachers and staff are here to support your student(s) before and after school. If you have specific questions, we encourage families to reach out to our staff and teachers directly. Students who need a quiet place to work on homework or receive tutoring can book and appointment to work with one of our Academic Interventionists after school Monday through Thursday until 3:30pm in the HUB.

By attending school regularly and striving for passing grades, students maximize the doors open to them in their future. We believe in the limitless potential of each and every one of our students, and are here to partner with families in supporting them in every way we can!

Sincerely,

Chris Dunn

Principal, Shadle Park HS

HEALHTY YOUTH SURVEY

Our school is participating in the Washington State Healthy Youth Survey during fall 2023. The survey will be given to students in Grades 6, 8, 10 and 12 in large districts and students in Grades 6 through 12 in small school districts. The Healthy Youth Survey includes questions related to physical activity and diet, unintentional and intentional injury, substance use, sexual behaviors, abuse, risk and protective factors, and access to school-based services. Survey results are used by schools, communities, and state agencies to plan programs to support our youth and reduce their risks. Participation in the survey is voluntary and the students’ answers are anonymous. There are no codes or information used to match a survey to a student. For more information, please view the HYS Student & Parent Information Letter.
