Tax Bills in the Mail - Message From Treasurer Holly Kim
|
|
-
Tax bills will be mailed out this weekend from the printer. ONLINE BILLS WILL BE VISIBLE STARTING SATURDAY May 1st.
- We are returning to two installments this year.
-
Here are the banks that are accepting property tax payments from residents. Free service. You do not have to be a customer there. New for this year, the County’s first Credit Union partner: Great Lakes Credit Union!
- Our office is rolling out 2 major changes designed to make it easier for Lake County property owners to pay their tax bills.
- First, when property owners get their tax bill this year, they will include instructions and a code to sign up to receive tax bills by email. If you’re like me and check your email multiple times a day, this will be a huge convenience. This is a purely voluntary, opt-in program. For property owners who want to continue receiving a mailed bill, we will continue to mail it. However, we anticipate that many Lake County property owners will take advantage of the convenience of email.
-
Part of signing up for eBilling includes a link to our online payment portal, so that you can seamlessly receive the bill, review it, and pay it online. In conjunction with the eBills, we have also introduced a free online payment option. Starting this year, property owners can pay by electronic check with no fee online. The idea is to create a free, convenient, and accurate way to make property tax payments. We hope you will help us spread the word.
Lastly, the lobby at the County Courthouse has a new TSA style security area that takes up the majority of the area in front of the Treasurer’s office. Here’s an actual photo of me looking directly at my office. With the pandemic still going on, and with free ways to pay online/phone with eCheck, or at the banks, I would encourage our residents to pay those ways for convenience and safety.

Fremont Center will be realigned to meet Route 60 at about a 90-degree angle and widened for right- and left-turn lanes. Route 60 will be widened to provide an eastbound right-turn lane and westbound left-turn lane. Shredding Event Moved to Fremont School, May 15
|
|
Please mark your calendar for May 15 from 9 am til noon.
Due to the popularity of our shredding event last year, we are moving the location to the Fremont Intermediate School Parking Lot at 28754 N Fremont Center Rd, Mundelein, IL 60060. The traffic was literally backed up to Target last year so we need to move the event. We also are providing an additional truck.
If the trucks hit capacity before noon, the event is over.
You may bring the equivalent of 3 boxes to shred. Staples and paper clips are fine. The most efficient way is to place your items in a paper grocery bag. Because we are not at our facility, we will not be able to take cardboard boxes. No plastic bags! Due to Covid and to keep the line moving, you will not be able to exit your car and watch the shredding.
This shredding event is for documents only. Please recycle your coupons, magazines and junk mail with your weekly recycling.
Pop your trunk and we will take the items. Do not leave your car.
We will not accept any binders or hanging file folders or electronic items because they catch on fire in the truck.
We look forward to seeing you and appreciate your patience.
