Walk for Life Kern County
St. Philip the Apostle Council 9530 Knights of Columbus in Bakersfield
The Knights of Columbus partnered with the Right to Life of Kern County on the Walk for Life Kern County on Saturday, April 13, at RiverLakes Community Church in Bakersfield. About 100 participants attended the first of what is expected to be an annual event.
Fr. Larry Toschi led the group in prayer after the opening remarks by Right to Life of Kern County Executive Director, Judy Goad. After the presentation of the colors by the Adm. Callaghan Assembly's Color Guard and the Pledge of Allegiance, Assemblyman Vince Fong encouraged the crowd to continue defending the lives of pre-born human beings and supporting their mothers.
The Knights provided security and traffic control for the walkers as they made their way on the sidewalks near the church and then provided a hotdog meal to the participants. The family-friendly event included booths where participants received information from Rachel's Vineyard ministries and more!
