Leading the Way

by Caleb Henry

Huge congratulations to Dave for his selection to the board of directors for the Foundation for Community Association Research - a 3-year term! This is a monumental achievement! Following the tragic events of the Champlain Towers collapse in 2021, Dave's dedicated efforts to raise national awareness about maintenance have been truly commendable. Now, his hard work is being recognized, putting us in a strong position to make Maintenance Programs a staple in our industry. Well done, Dave, for paving the way! Congratulations on this well-deserved honor!

Tsunami Preparedness

by Tim Lampman

March 23-31 marks California’s Tsunami Preparedness Week. While tsunamis are rare, it's crucial to recognize their potential impact on areas across southern California, where many of us reside and work daily. In light of this, we're sharing important information about tsunamis to bolster our readiness for this unpredictable natural disaster. Here's some things you should know:

  • A tsunami is a sea wave generated by an earthquake, landslide, volcanic eruption, or even a large meteor hitting the ocean.
  • Tsunamis in California, although rare, pose a significant threat to the entire coastline.
  • An unusual lowering of ocean water is a warning sign, indicating a strong surge is imminent.
  • Coastal areas like beaches, bays, and estuaries are most vulnerable to tsunamis.
  • Tsunamis resemble sloping mountains of water filled with debris, unlike normal coastal waves.
  • They can reach heights of twenty to fifty feet or more along the coast.
  • Tsunamis may occur in multiple surges, making prediction difficult.

INSIGHTS & INSPIRATION

Feeing Disengaged?

by Dave Rauch

Feeling engaged at work is crucial. With the Great Resignation phenomenon, where over 40 million people changed jobs since August 2021, it's evident that many feel disconnected. Gallup's study across 73 countries found 85% of employees are either not engaged or actively disengaged, often due to feeling undervalued or disconnected from their work. ProTec leaders must take steps to ensure everyone feels connected and engaged.

Gallup identified three key actions ProTec's leaders can take to foster engagement:

  1. Clarify ProTec's purpose of Improving Quality of Life to give employees a sense of purpose.
  2. Recognize each ProTecian's unique contribution to the team.
  3. Build meaningful relationships with each team member, showing genuine care for their personal and professional development.

Remember, people leave leaders, not companies. It's about how leaders make employees feel valued and supported. If you're feeling disengaged, don't hesitate to talk to your leader about it.
