Giving Back to The Community

ProAct participants can't help but smile as they spend time helping with the incredible work being done by Feed My Starving Children. Through boxing materials, participants are able to help ensure children around the country and around the world will be protected from going hungry.

Through volunteering, participants get the chance to impact hundreds of kids. Working with the community and Feed My Starving Children is always a wonderful experience.

Participants and staff at ProAct pride themselves in staying involved in their communities and giving back!

Fun Adventures and Appreciating Volunteers

The month of April provided many exciting opportunities for participants across the ProAct Sites.

In Red Wing, participants had a lot to do and a lot of fun to be had. A new and extra popular class is Papering where participants had a chance to relax with facials, hand massages, and getting their nails painted. There was plenty more excitement as participants got to meet with the Red Wing Fire Department to learn all about the work they do and the equipment they use to save lives. Red Wing even had a surprise visit from the Easter Bunny!

In Shakopee, participants took some time to show their appreciation for some of the wonderful volunteers and all the work they do. There were also many fun activities from going to an auto show, visiting the Mall of America, and going bowling.

In Eagan, there was a lot to do and a lot to see. Participants in Cheat Codes class enjoyed an action-packed trip to the arcade while the Comic Book Club went to the store and enjoyed some time with some Star Wars friends from a galaxy far, far away. Additionally, Cultural Diversity Class enjoyed a trip to the beautiful Swedish Institute!

Finally, Hudson participants enjoyed fun games and tasty treats during trips to Chuck E Cheese and the bowling alley. There were plenty of pretty craft projects that included participants making their very own pet fish.

Monthly, ProAct’s Diversity, Equity and Inclusion (DEI) Committee focuses on educating staff, participants and stakeholders in areas of culture, diversity, and disability. The committee chooses one diversity related area and a disability as its educational focuses for the month. Bulletin boards, e-mails, class projects and other tools are used to educate staff and participants at each of our four locations.

The committee chose Asian Pacific American Heritage and Williams Syndrome for the month of May.
