A Letter From Our Pastor
You will be my witnesses

In the Tuesday morning Bible Study, they have been going through the book of Acts. It never ceases to amaze me how the early church was born and how it grew. From a shaky group of eleven young men barricaded and huddled in a locked-up room to over 3,000 baptized worshipping members of vibrant church in less than two months; the church grew through the proclamation of the Gospel of Jesus along with the workings of the Holy Spirit.

God continued to use the most unlikely people to grow his church – ordinary men and women: fishermen, married couples, a tent-maker, soldiers in the military, a prison guard, a woman who worked in the garment industry – people of good character and people of notorious and questionable character. These ordinary folks and more, God made to be His witnesses to the Gospel of His Son, Jesus; people untrained in evangelistic methodology but transformed by the Word and Spirit.

These “witnesses” took the Gospel wherever they worked and lived – a roadside, a living room, a friend’s house, a prison, the local market place. They didn’t need to be “sent” or follow some evangelistic program; they just took the gospel wherever ordinary life would lead them.

What continues to amaze me is how the Lord continues to build his church today; he does it the same way he did when he first told that shaky group of eleven men “you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses.”

My friends, we have the same power and the same Word that was given to ordinary men and women to go into ordinary places to spread the good news of our Lord, and God will continue to use people like you and me to gather outsiders into our family of faith here at Prince of Peace. May our prayer echo the prayers of those early witnesses who prayed “Lord, grant to your servants to continue to speak your Word with all boldness.” God will answer that prayer, and through it, He will continue to build His church through ordinary people like you and me,
Amen.
