Treat Yourself to a Relaxing and Therapeutic Massage!
|
Male touch is a powerful and healing gift!
Dave has been serving the men's community for over 18 years. Dave’s training combined with his innate intuitive nature uniquely qualifies him for this work.
Dave’s philosophy is that the body, mind, and spirit are intricately intertwined components of the whole being. If any one part is out of alignment all three suffer. By assisting in bringing the body into balance, the mind and spirit benefit as well.
Dave is especially interested in the neuro-muscular techniques of Slow Passive Joint Movement and re-patterning work where muscles are taught to let go of their tension through slow, gentle and soothing passive movements of the shoulder and hip joints.
| |
|
Let Dave custom-design a massage for you!
Dave honors all those who arrive on his table with an individual treatment plan based on your input and what he feels with his hands when the work begins.

| |
|
Thanks to the 22 Work Campers who joined us over 16 days in April for our Spring Work Camp, as we came together to get Frog Meadow ready for the season. We couldn't have done it without you!
One of the many highlights of Work Camp are the communal dinners prepared by our Work Campers, and the absolute gem of Spring Work Camp was the Black & White Sesame Crusted Salmon prepared by from James O, thank you James!
According to James, "this [recipe] may seem unnecessarily over-

Rock River Update: Summer's Here!
|
Did you know that Rock River has been a safe space for men for 55+ years? Did you know that Frog Meadow is only 4 miles from the Rock River trail head?
The West River is a relatively long, wide and warm river as compared to the Rock River, which, true to its name, is very rocky, swift and cool. Just upstream from the confluence of the Rock and West Rivers, and only four miles from Frog Meadow off Route 30, there are a series of deep, clear water swimming holes. Known as “Indian Love Call” by the locals there is a long tradition of nude bathing on the Rock River as there is in Vermont in general.
As you hike further up the Rock River you will notice that the first swimming hole is deep with a sandy beach and a rope swing. This is the “family” swimming hole where the clothing stays on.
The further upstream you go the more likely you are
| |
|
to see nude bathers; the next couple of beaches up the trail are mixed, gay and straight, and nude.
As you continue further up the Rock River it becomes increasingly gay until you reach your final destination (about a 35-minute hike from the road) and discover the “official” gay area. While the wooded areas are very cruisy, the scene by the water is very social and quite friendly (e.g. no “attitude”).
Men often bring preparations with them for a summer BBQ and, generally speaking, all are welcome, especially if you have things to share.
There is a feeling of being in another time and place when you’re at Rock River!

Local Eating: Tavernier Chocolates, Brattleboro
|
Perhaps the Best & Most Unique Chocolate you may have Ever Eaten?
Those of us who enjoy the special treat of handmade bonbons, truffles and dark chocolate bars have found a new place to call “chocolate mecca” at Tavernier Chocolates, located in nearby Brattleboro.
The chocolates, which Co-Owner Dar Tavernier-Singer describes as "a full sensory experience," are infused with functional botanicals, fruits, raw sugars, tree syrups and honey, paired with global spices and other ingredients.
Customers have waxed poetic about Tavernier’s “earthy, elegant, seasonally inspired chocolates that are handcrafted in the bucolic splendor of Southern Vermont with

ethically sourced couverture and farmed and foraged ingredients”. Tavernier Chocolates has been recognized by Yankee Magazine for its Soppressata Piccante Chocolate Charcuterie and by USA Today as one of the 10 best chocolate makers in New England. Definitely worth checking out, in our opinion!

Bellows Falls LGBTQ+ Pride Festival!
|
June 5-29
PRIDE Comes to Bellows Falls!
Since the 1970s, nearby Bellows Falls has been a home for the LGBTQIA+ community, with the historic Andrews Inn, the first Gay bar in the state of Vermont.
Throughout the month of June, Bellows Falls is once again a destination for the LGBTQ+ community in New England and beyond.
Echoing the days of the historic Andrews Inn, which was in business from 1973-1984 and located in the downtown Windham Hotel building, the gay community sought out the town as a place of safety and security.
Patrons would travel by train to the only LGBTQ+ friendly destination in the state for a weekend of dancing and house parties. It was described in 1979 as a “cultural cross between Mayberry and Fire Island"!

Local Artist: Carol Ross/Rock River Studio
|
We've known local graphic designer and ceramic artist Carol Ross and her equally talented photographer (and Wife) Christine Triebert for 30+ years as neighbors and part of the Rock River area's vibrant creative community. Together they operate Rock River Studio, which showcases their many artistic talents.
Carol's functional pottery has been described as calming and quirky at the same time. With signature coil and wire handles, each piece has a distinctive personality. Carol's graphic design background, and her love of simplicity in art and in life inspires all of her work.
Carol Ross pottery is not sold in stores or online. It’s available at selected festivals and directly through Rock River Studio.
Carol notes, "I grew up in City Island, a tiny island off the coast of the Bronx. After graduating from Hunter College, I started my career as a graphic designer in a large packaging design studio in NYC. Wanting a slower pace, I migrated north to Boston where I spent many years in advertising and magazine design. Wanting a still slower pace, I moved to Vermont with my partner, photographer Chris Triebert. We started a graphic design and

|
photography studio here along the Rock River in South Newfane. Vermont very quickly became home.
Around 2013 I returned to pottery, my first love. My functional vessels have been described as calming and uncomplicated. With signature coil and wire handles, I try to give each piece a distinctive personality. Some of my forms combine the exposed natural clay body with the addition of a single glaze. My graphic design background, and my love of simplicity, in art and in life, inspires all of my work".
Carol and Chris welcome visitors to their studio in South Newfane and would love to show you around. Contact Carol anytime to set up a visit.

I look forward to this [my stay] for months!
Every year, I get so excited about going to visit. I relax, unwind and meet amazing people every time! I usually go solo just to get away and am pumped for weeks before arriving. The place is amazing with beautiful views, clean rooms and fantastic people.
I stayed in one of the rooms in the house this trip and I genuinely have never slept better in my life. Breakfast is truly wonderful, you can relax and unwind and you also never know who you’ll meet. You get to socialize with others or keep to yourself and enjoy the beauty of southern Vermont.
This trip I also checked out local restaurants and was surprised how upscale they are and great the food was. The partner comes with me next time!
Thank you for always providing an amazing experience and making me feel like I’m home in the mountains. This retreat renews me and sends me home a better person than when I arrived!
