November 2, 2021 - Hickory, NC - Utility Solutions, Inc. has partnered with several lineman schools across the country to provide their Engineers and Territory Managers an opportunity to learn more about what it means to be a lineman. Classes have included overhead and underground distribution.
The goal is to increase application knowledge of the products they design and sell, and give employees a first-hand perspective from real linemen-- the people who use these products in the field daily.
“I feel like I have a better understanding of the ease of use, fit, & function that our tools need to provide that I can incorporate when I am designing new products," said Peter Shirilla, Engineer. "It is a totally different experience actually being up in a bucket and physically doing the work rather than just reading through how it is supposed to be done in the work methods."
"I have been working with lineman in my sales territories for several years and this experience has given me a whole new respect for the jobs they do," said Reggie Torres, Southeast Territory Manager. "I know I will be a better asset to my customers having attended the school."
The results have been unanimously positive-- each person reporting something new they've learned from their individual experience. Utility Solutions plans to continue the initiative moving forward as a value-add experience for everyone involved.
"It was a very insightful and beneficial learning experience," said Kaylor Garcia, Engineer. "There is nothing like getting real-world exposure to procedures and issues and then translating that into a good product that benefits lineworkers."
